HOTTEST FOR CITY HATERS
Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.
Technically, Ithaca is a city, but no one would mistake it for Manhattan. Cornell's rural, upstate New York campus is bounded by deep gorges (prompting the bumper sticker ithaca is gorges). Even during the long winters, many students say the scenery is spectacular—a good antidote to a demanding course schedule that students call the toughest of the Ivies. The school's biggest draw is its academic diversity, with top-ranked undergraduate schools of engineering, arts and sciences, architecture, hotel administration, industrial and labor relations, agriculture and human ecology. Another plus is the food, considered to be among the best campus cuisines in the country.

That's a really nice objective refreshing article :)

Cool. Ithaca is definately a small city, though they're right, definately not Manhattan...but if you really wanted to go away from a city you can get far more remote (Williams, middlebury, clarkson, colgate...).

I guess being from a much smaller town, it seems weird that people talk about Ithaca as if it were situated in wilderness....I can't think of anything the city Ithaca doesn't have that I'd really want.

Speaking of exploring Ithaca...I went to the Ithaca State Street Theatre a couple weeks ago. It's such an amazing theatre, you would never know it was there from the outside.

Although, a Starbucks just opened on the commons....I think it's kind of sad. So many people were excited about their coming, but I think I'll stick with the local shops.
