Next batch??

No news here either…stats for Syracuse for S are in the mid range, we toured the school in August, interviewed, someone from development came to our house to meet us, we had a lot of contact with Syracuse…so the fact that we heard nothing either way or the fact that nobody forwarned us of a pending decision either way, makes me wonder. I don’t get how they do the decisions, nor do I understand if you didn’t apply for financial aid, whether the decision shows up on myslice, when we go on to the account, it it just has a place to go to , to apply for financial aid, but it clearly says for applicants. So lets try and think positive and use positve energy, my s was accepted at many schools, this wil be his 2nd rejection if that is what it is, the other one was UFlorida, which was expected, since we are oos. But he has choices and thats what everyone has to focus on. He has 2 deferrals, 1 deferred to Spring term, at a great school and 2 more that he hasn’t heard from, one of them is an April 1 decision. SO the wait continues…for many…and if this is of any comfort my d was rejected from her first choice school, which my husband and I are both legacies, spent 2 years at a not so bad school and transferred, graduated from her first choice, my middle s was rejected from his first choice ED school, went to his 3rd choice, and loved it, but decided to transfer as a second semester junior, which they don’t normally allow, but we agrred that he could do the 64 required credits to graduate from there and he did, with summer school there, graduated on time last spring from his DREAM school, and now he was just wl there for law school, so he’s going to pay them a visit, it requires a trip to Atlanta…but he wants to make a case. So keep your chins up!!!

does anyone know when Syracuse will send out the next batch of emails i know they will continue until the end of March but will they be released weekly, so next fri. will be more emails or will they be released daily?

I think they are pretty much weekly, at least that was how it was done last year. And in each batch there are acceptances and declines. One thing we noticed, it seems most people in this round got financial aid. Didn’t see any full pays yet. That is our hope here…

One more time, your story certainly puts perspective on this process!!

I haven’t heard yet either. SU is my dream school and I’ve worked my butt off to get in. I pretty much changed my whole life around. I just hope that they’ll give me a chance. I wish you all the best of luck in getting in. I really hope I get accepted. If not, I am going to keep applying until i do! Go Orange! <3

will someone PLEASE explain this myslice thing to me??
i applied for aid and i made an account today bc i didnt before what does tht mean?

Indiagurl what exactly are you asking about the myslice? It is not required that you have one to find out your aid or your acceptance/denial. You will still find out through email, and you will most likely get an email later (after your acceptance) saying that your aid award has been posted on myslice. You may then go and check it out. If you get denied, then myslice obviously isn’t an issue. Apparently some people are finding out their acceptances by going to myslice, but I think both myslice and emails are sent at a close period of time but myslife is automatically updated so they can see it before they get the email.
Again, not sure what your question is.

My guidance counselor just got off the phone with admissions. They are processing all the applications, and acceptances and declines are being sent out almost daily. If you haven’t heard, it DOES NOT mean you have been declined. They say they will be sending notices out until the end of march.

daily???
like we dont have to wait until friday, we just can get them any day??

I am trying to get that clarified, whether they were processing aps daily and posting weekly? I do know people were still getting emails on Sat. and Sun., but there servers could be slow.

I just got off the phone with the syracuse admissions office and i asked if admission decisions would be going out daily or week by week and they replied week by week, every friday so it looks like we wont be hearing for a few days…ugh im so nervous, the only school im waiting to hear back from and its the school i really want to go to. How is everyone holding up with the wait?

not too bad (probably b/c i got into two of my other top four schools)…it is important to remember that there is nothing we can do but wait and hope we are in the next batch…if i am not in the next batch then it will start getting on my nerves

thanks redandgold, I was confused as my guidance counselor said they said they processed daily apps, but I wasn’t sure if that meant sent out decisions daily. Strange how some people found out Sat and Sun though-unless they didn’t check email or they have slow servers. Anyway, it is good to know there is no use looking until this Friday (and we will be on vacation!!)

O’h, and D also got into her other top school, but she wants Syracuse so bad and the wait is excruciating!!

I’m not holding up well!
I HAVE to find out by Friday or I am out $600. Ugh…stupid college visits…
Don’t you wish they would send you an email letting you know when you will be getting your acceptance/deferral email?
Ah…that would be spectacular.

Ha!^^^I was at SU yesterday picking up some of the T-shirts for Friday’s game, and I SOOO wanted to go into admissions and ask them what is up with my D’s application! then I thought of going to the Alumni Relations, where they are also so nice and accommodating, and when they ask if they can do anything for me say “get me my D’s ACCEPTANCE letter!” So I just got the T-shirts…

I gave up and relinquished to my anxiety.
I went to my guidance counselor today and explained my situation about flying to New York to visit a school I could possibly get deinied by.
She said today she will be calling the admissions office and seeing if they know my decision, or if they can see what batch I will be in.
I have very low hopes, and even if I find something out, I know I won’t believe it until I see the email/letter. I will keep you updated!!

next batch out tomorrow…hopefully i will be in this one

I sent out my midyear report late, but I’m keeping my spirits high! Good luck! :)

I hope I am in the next batch as well. I haven’t been holding up very well lately either. No sleep, rocketing stress level, major headaches, it’s just bad. Stay strong everyone and good luck.
