Next Chemical Engineering Course

I'm going for chemical engineering but already have the AP Chemistry credit. Should I take Chem 2150 (which I think I can skip because of my AP Chemistry credit) or go on and take the next level of Chemistry?

Cornell's website says, "Students who obtain AP credit for CHEM 2090 and are thinking of majoring in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering should consider enrolling in CHEM 2150. Those who are offered AP credit for CHEM 2090 and then elect to take CHEM 2150 will also receive academic credit for CHEM 2090. You may want to discuss this option with your faculty advisor."

I want to follow what Cornell says, but I would also like to see what other people suggest. Maybe some people will have personal experiences. Is it advisable to skip Chem 2150? If I do skip it, what would I be taking? Chem 2080? or CHEM 3890?

PS- I've already posted this in another thread of mine (sorry) but didn't get many responses. I just decided to make it as its own thread instead of within a different topic thread.

Dude *** is wrong with you just take Chem 2150/2160.
Chem 2080 is in the spring and Chem 3890 has a prerequisite
of Chem 2080 or Chem 2160 so you can’t really take that either.
Think about it do you really want to start out with Physical Chemistry
,which I hear is really hard (no surprise), in your first semester or go a
whole semester without Chem just to take Chem 2080 or take the two semester
honor’s sequence which is meant for Chem and Chem e majors and will give a really
strong foundation for your later Chem and Chem e courses? That sounds like
a no brainer to me.

Uh, chill out. There is nothing wrong with me. I read your post on the other thread, and I appreciate the advice, which I took into account. I’m 70% sure I want to do that already, but I’m just asking some other people. Besides, you’re not even going into Chemical Engineering. There’s no need to come here to repeat yourself and add a little insult.

For anyone else who reads this thread, I want to add that I also have the choice of taking both Intro to Engineering and Intro to Computing in the same semester if I do skip Chem 2150. Should I do that or just take Chem 2150? I am planning to graduate early as well (maybe), so I don’t know if I should save time/money or invest time/effort into getting a better foundation for Chem.

But I mean it seems so obvious to me. Taking the class that is meant
for people who got a 5 on AP Chem and that will give you a really strong
background for your future Chem and Chem e classes. I think I’d rather do
that instead of jumping to the really hard upper level stuff so early or not taking
chem for a whole semester to take 2080.

Ok, I understand, that is why I am 70% sure I want to do that. I really do want a strong foundation as a Chem E major. But for me, it isn’t as obvious of a choice as it is for you because I am thinking of graduating early and knocking out as many classes I can with my AP credits. Either that or I want to pursue something like pre-med, pre-optometry, or pre-pharm and in that case I might be able to squeeze in one of the requirements in a free slot.

If you are thinking about any of the pre- tracks, you will need to take a year of introductory chemistry. Using AP chem will not fly when applying to med school, even if you take upper level classes.
