"Next Generation" of College Confidential Here Already? (FALL 2010 Transfers)

yeah my classes started already…but fall starts 8/24

what was the “so…” for? lol

ill die before you…(:

summer courses start on the 22nd for me. 6-week classes!

I could still potentially be a Fall 10 transfer, but I am still debating on my major (History, Psych, or both) and the only way I could transfer F10 is if I stayed with History and took MAJOR heavy course loads.

Plus I cannot decide where I want to go yet (Berkeley, UCLA, UCB, ect) and have opportunities to establish myself in the Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa, and various on school activities, making myself an even stronger candidate.

I want to take as many prereqs as I can in “cheap” college before I transfer as well.

I might have a change of heart and join you guys as F10 transfers, but most likely I will just have to stick it out a year to benefit myself in the long run.

^
take your time is my advice, especially if you want to get into cal for psychology. pre-reqs are a must! phi theta kappa is great!!! && im going to join honors too, im sure it will be a great experience as well!~

best of luck to you! (:

how do you go about double majoring?

Thanks erikuh!

Finals next week and I haven’t even opened any books. WHAT DO I DOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo … It’s like, I wanna study, but then I dont, you know?

^
you still have finals!!! crazyyy. im glad im done with all that…hahaha. (:

i didnt have to study for finals much this semester…except for statistics…which was a great final anyways!

1 final down, 4 more to go.

ERGH.

Oh yeah, Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, and Baron Davis were all at UCLA this week haha.

Paul Pierce was there a couple weeks ago.

any of you all apply for the UCLA CCCP Scholars Program? I think the application was due today… I applied. Sounds like a cool opportunity.

[CCCP SCHOLARS PROGRAM](<a href=“CCCP – Academic Advancement Program”>CCCP – Academic Advancement Program)

It is a good opportunity especially with the student mentor and if you need guidance about transferring in general.

I knew a girl who did it but got rejected by UCLA though. Kinda sucks because she was really set on going there after having spent a summer on campus and being so involved with UCLA.

So take it for what it is and the information you’ll gain from it and not purely for your apps.

did u know anything about that girls major?

only certain colleges have that program right?

So I never bothered to look until now but…
■■■■, she was an anthro major.

PTK, CCCP 2008, Intern, Volunteered at a cultural center, did cultural dance and even helped choreograph UCLA’s Pilipino Cultural Night, SMC peer mentor, Filipino club president. (Yeah, she had all those listed on her FB…)

She’s going to Davis next Fall. Only reason I can think that she got rejected was because of GPA? But wouldn’t that mean she’d be ineligible for PTK?

Ergh, now I’m super tripped out :(

id say best bet would be she took a class that wasnt considered ucla transferable, but transferable to the other ucs…and came short of 60 units. that happened to ALOT of people in the appeals threads…you should ask her…because any other reason wouldnt seem legit with all that on her plate

I talked to my friend about her (barely an acquaintance with her) and he said she’s been in CC for 3 years so being short of 60 would be weird.

BUT he did say she failed anthro 1 (a pre-req) then passed a second time.

thats still fishy tho, because she mst have passed it with a better grade…and the F doesnt count if she filled out the repeat paper…which i imagaine she would have if she was in all those programs. yikes. ohh the stress that comes with being a transfer student :(

joined the fb group… it looks interesting…

two more finals

Erikuh, as a fellow Anthro transfer, you had me freaking out. With Phi Theta Kappa, you have to have a 3.5 (i believe) to be accepted, and maintain a 3.25 I believe. This probably varies by campus. so, hopefully it was GPA that was the decision maker in her case.

I figured since there are so many SMC kids…

Does anyone know how good Dianne Berman in the Political Science department is as a teacher? Her reviews are pretty mixed.
