For Poli Sci–Schultz. That simple :]. Unless she is full?

Schultz is good (MartinSMC, how’d you do?) but I don’t think she teaches anything other than PS1 and other independent studies. But my friend wanted to add her class but she said Schultz is full. :T

@killerforhire - Which PoliSci are you looking to take Berman with? I’m taking her right now for PoliSci2. Her class is all lecture. If you are lucky and have an obnoxious know-it-all in your class, then there will be discussions (haha). Three tests, final is not cumulative. Her multiple choice tests are very hard but she gives us the essay questions before hand. In the end, though, she’s very sympathetic and gives you the benefit of the doubt. She’s super chill and down-to-earth. Even if you deserve a C or D, she’ll probably give you a B.

For PTK, you need to maintain a 3.0 GPA. But I think it varies depending on the school you go to…?

Dang, I just got super glue on myself. D:

Maybe she WAS in PTK then super bombed/failed last fall.
Only thing I can come up with.
The average accepted GPA is like 3.4x so it wouldn’t be too weird for them to reject a flat 3.0 or something.

The ironic thing is I told her back in March that I was applying for TAP and she went, “Oh you don’t need that to get in” (her brother transferred to UCLA the year before w/o it). Ouch…

Martin, I’m taking Schultz next fall.
I like studying poli sci and the US government/political history…but I hate real life politics and all the arguing haha. I couldn’t do it as a major lol!

im really nervous…like end up thinking that ill have 60 transferable units…and then find out that some didnt transfer…BIGGEST FEAR.

Don’t most classes that are level 100 and above transfer? Which courses don’t transfer aside from those under 100?

I know you can only take like 4 or 5 transferrable Physical Education courses (And have them count) because I was playing tennis last fall (easy 4 units). :P

well if youve taken a look at the UCLA appeals thread,

a lot of those people took classes which they believed to be transferable, and were not. leaving most of them about 3 units short of 60, with good GPAs (most likely would have been admitted without that little boo boo)

i called the admissions lady at UCLA and she said that happens ALOT! people take these classes that are said to be transferable, but with UCLA and CAL being so selective, they do not accept some “uc transferable” courses that UCLA does accept.

so all you people that think you have it made, watch out! lol

ah! I think to be safe, I’ll overcompensate on units like I did last semester. To set me around… 70 units when I’m done!

I’ll be good that way :)

…oh, and that would be a nightmare. to be just a couple units shy of transferring. How wack. They can always go to UC Merced, I’m sure. ;)

well it sucks when they didnt apply to ucm…because who would want to go
lol
but, ucsb usually takes appeals with those problems, if they take it during summer.

ill be right at 60, so i am pretty scared lol

Why not throw in a random class like Health 101? I’m doing that this summer.

I’m taking math, astronomy, and I threw in Health. Easy “A” as far as I can tell.

Omg… what If Health is one of the classes that doesn’t transfer!? :O

Is there some list we can see?

Question.
Should i take the second of my 3 pre reqs. during the summer (online), where it looks like i will be getting a B at best (i’m constantly traveling this summer for work/tough teacher), oooorrr, should i just wait til’ the fall, where i can take an easier/better teacher, and i will have the time and right focus to get an A…

My concern was that the UC’s would rather see 2 of the 3 pre reqs. finished before the fall semester even starts instead of 2 of the 3 in progress during the fall. I really need A’s.

Thoughts/advice??? Thanks in advance.

Why dont you get 3 out of 3 finished? Take 1 in the summer and get the A, then take the last one during Fall.

I’m going to be on a music tour for 2 months this summer, and if you can imagine there will be distractions. That was the plan, to take one during the summer, then the last in the fall. I have already registered for the class in the summer, and i’m confident in my ability, but from researching the teacher, and taking one of his other classes, i know it will be near impossible to get an A. which i need.

If i didn’t take the summer class, i would take 2 of my last 3 pre reqs during the fall. And both classes look like manageable A’s. Think it makes sense to just take both in the fall to ensure A’s in the classes, or will it matter that much to take the class in the summer , which i will prolly struggle to get a B?

If you can take 2 of your pre-reqs in the fall then go for it. What major only has 3 pre-reqs?!

Anthro of course :)

you freaking anthro majors! lol luckys.
but focus on the As, i talked to an admissions reviewer, and they told me that they dont care when you took them, just as long as you have them.in the long run the As help out your gpa alooooooot more.

I’ve done 1 of 3 pre-reqs, I’m taking the other two in the fall. (anthro)

^ From what I know, UCs don’t even look at your app until the fall/winter updates are in.

Sephorazn18 - all the languages have have no articulations at all for pre-reqs.

I just have archaeology left ![]()
The only teacher who teaches it at SMC is hardly inspiring though :/

im taking all of mine in fall lol

^
me too! (: spring will just be awesome classes. im taking fiction…LOL
