This could almost be an anthro thread…with all you anthro people…up in here.

^whats your major?!

don’t hate. LOL :)

edelynly,

Sorry for the late response. I did pretty well in Schultz’s class–I got two 8’s on the papers and got every EC point so I didn’t have to show up after May 20th. How’d you do?

For all the anthro students: this is pretty much your forum! I’d be excited to be with a bunch of students who share the same major as me. Just curious–what do you all plan to do with that degree? I’m not bashing at all, it seems like a very interesting major and I want to know the careers that are related to it.

It was started by an anthro major ;)

I want to teach or work with non-profit organizations, or possibly go into the peace corps. (I did my 1 year with AmeriCorps already, I can’t do Teach For America
)

I am a women’s studies major. Love it! Yay for feminist studies. Evan… So you don’t want to make money?

I know its cliche to say “oh, I’m not in it for the money,” but I’m really not in it for the money.

I want to live comfortably, but I also want to be happy and fulfilled.

I just want to be Ari Gold :]

Oh wow. Two 8’s, wooo. I got a 4 on my first paper (horrible, I know, but I left my binder and books and everythinggg back in San Diego accidentally) and 8 on my second. But the OA’s covered everything so it turned out fine. Haha.

Can’t believe first year’s done in a few days. Wow. The school’s going to be packed with all these people coming back to take their finals, haha.

I want to go to Grad School. My Undergrad isn’t too important to me (Anthro.). I would like to be a foreign diplomat, or something along the lines of foreign relations, culture, etc.

what does everyone want to do with their major?

I want to get a masters in public health in epidemiology (if I get a super high GPA at UCLA) or community health (if I don’t LOL). Probably going to need to do Americorps prior to this since I won’t have that much public health experience.

From there I want to work for the government under the US Public Health Services (it’s like the military of public health i.e. the head of it is the surgeon general). It’s got the uniforms, ranks, and pensions and everything. I have a lot of extended family in the military, so this system is really appealing for me even if I get deployed (only within the country i.e. Hurricane Katrina)/relocated.

Other option is to go into teaching. Preferably high school/college level.

Like Evan, I’m not really in it for the money either. I think proportionally more people with the anthro major share the same mentality as opposed to those in maybe economics.

A brain surgeon and a lawyer at the same time. Looking into getting an MD/JD/MBA/M.S. (In Physics).

^ Then eventually become the first Asian-American president?

LOL erikuh…

erikuh are you leaning more towards ucla or cal?

Sadly…she’s leaning more towards UCLA…

UCLA. You?
If I remember right, you were leaning towards UCLA too.
I already have an established group of friends at LA that I hang out with and really like the work hard, play hard environment.

Plus it’s far enough away from home (30 minutes w/o traffic, 1 hour+ with lol!) that I have my space but close enough to go home for food/family parties. Filipinos (as well as Hispanic/Latino) have HUUUUGE extended families with a baptism/birthday almost every weekend :D

Sephorazn18 - lol! yeaaaah, although I very well could go to Cal for grad school.

Good…I’ll see you there when I go to Boalt (Berkeley’s law school)!
I think imma end up jinxing my chances of getting into either schools…I’m talking as I’ve already been accepted.

lol yes, you do remember right. im filipino too haha. cal would probably bea good move for me too for grad school.im about an hour and a half away from ucla. sd wooo lol

UC Berkeley’s School Of Public Health is BOSS. Grad school is when the name prestige actually matters anyways.

And I feel the same exact way. My friends know I’m in TAP and all that so they talk the same way: “When you go to UCLA…” and stuff instead of “if”.
I always go, “NO, DON’T JINX IT!”
