btw does anyone go to school in the bay??
and is anyone else nervous and anxious about this whole application thing?
OHH and anyone a bio major? haha

I’m pretty anxious. I wish it was november. Screw summer time. :P

@sarah90 - If it’s a major requirement, you should check the ASSIST website. If it’s just to fulfill the general education, you should check the IGETC form. And if you’re still having trouble, talk to a counselor? Even though they’re of no help, imo. Haha.

November?! I want April! Hahaha. Can’t wait to be done with CC. Summer and Fall and I’m done. Yeayuhhh. Is anyone else done after Fall too?

SATs account for so little when it comes to the ivy leagues.

They can only take in so many low income kids with incredible academics. Other things like family success is important too , that’s why the networking is so great at schools like Harvard , Princeton , Yale , etc… Those kids have parents who are in Law , Journalism , Banking , etc…

Not to say that these kids got in purely because mommy & daddy have tons of money and know a lot of people. (I’m sure a few did … George W. Bush anyone?) The majority of these kids are smart too , but what they bring to the table is much bigger than a 4.0 and 2100 SAT score. If you go to the UCs , a lot of the students there are dependent on loans , cal grants , scholarships and other financial aids. The job and internship opps are drastically different. This explains why people tell you to start looking at the start of the school year. I also followed with some people who graduated from Cal or UCLA last year… still unemployed… Econ/Biz Econ/Psych/Poli Sci , most impacted majors.

Of course this doesn’t apply to everyone so don’t get mad now. But look at the bright side, SATs aren’t even looked at for transfer students.

Oh and for all the Psych and Cultural Anthro majors out there…
Here’s something to ponder on til November:

"There will never be world peace. Race and Religious tensions will exist for as long as we live. It is human nature to feel better than someone , to feel superior, and to put down people, “put them in their place” , to make a point or inflate our egos. The general views of hispanics and blacks are polar opposites of that of white people.

With that in mind, would UCLA be as hip as it is today if it’s student population of African Americans went from 3% to 7%? 10%? 15%? Assuming that every other race takes a bit of a hit student pop wise equally.

Would Harvard be as respected as it is today if it’s acceptance rates went from 6-7% to 10%? 15%? 20%? Is it viewed as a great school because it is hard to get in or is it because it offers the absolute best in education?"

Just to throw this in there for the few of you who are into “streetwear”. This is the same thing with Supreme. The elitist attitude from people who wear it is due to it’s exclusiveness. The “too cool for you” attitude. Would Supreme be held as high if the online store started to service Canadians and Europeans? What if production numbers increased and more stores opened up? How about all of our collabs that people buy up just to be part of the scene? It’s funny… people walk into our shop actin all cool and “down since day one” to impress us. Nonetheless , a simple “sold out, maybe restock tomorrow” will get them coming back time and time again.

Same can be said for those who are willing to stay back at CC for another year to apply to UCLA AGAIN. In the end , supreme is just clothes sold at high profit margins , and UCLA will just be a bachelors degree.

Not sure what I want my message to be…
I guess, don’t hold yourself back for something that won’t matter in the long-run.

/end long post.

carry on and act as if this never appeared , if you can.

some people just like going to school here. =]

i would understand if people wanted to go to school here ONLY for name.
but UCLA is a ****ing awesome place to be. Some people don’t go to school just for their degree.
it’s an experience you would not get if you went somewhere else.
yeah you can call out a bunch of people who wanna go here so they can brag but once they come here they’d realize it’s more than that anyways.

Just like supreme, yeah they have a bunch of stupid kids on their nuts.
but some of their stuff is actually worth what you pay for. sometimes.
other times they throw kermit on it and watch resell go for over a buck.
it’s what you make of it.

ps. i’d love to see more black people here.

Yes. April would actually be nicer. :P

0 week would be the best.
(the week you move in but classes haven’t started yet)
Erika wins.

@unknownpleasures, you sound a bit bitter… I sell chill pills for fifty cents a piece. Hahaha, just kidding. I completely understand where you’re coming from, though.

And seriously. 0 Week. I’m getting all excited just thinking about it. HAH.

Studying at 4am in the morning for the wiiiin.

0 Week! How fun! I’m gonna party hard that week. :P

I wanna get the letters in the mail. That will be exciting for me. Sharing with my family who totally havent supported me and think that I am stupid. I will enjoy rubbing it in their face!!! YAY for actually completing something that I have always wanted. Yay for believing in myself!

i want the letters NOW!

I respect your confidence! (No sarcasm.) I’m… nervous. Hahaha.

You arent confident? Why work so hard if you dont think you are going to get in? I know I work hard and I will get into a UC…EVEN if it is only UCSB. haha. yay for me.

That bit about race and religion and harvard and ucla aren’t my words but a paraphrase of … well idk if i should put their name out on here.

anyways, i figured i post that out on here because there are SO many psych and anthro majors in this thread. Apparently they won’t take a stab at it.

edelynly - as for being chill, that’s basically a requirement for my job. Sometimes you just cant figure why there are 17 year olds outside your workplace waiting to buy a rebranded budweiser logo t-shirt. Then you think about , and say damn , we are making over 30+ dollars on one t-shirt. Time to chillllll.

Haha I never said I wasn’t confident. I’m just nervous. Like, anxiety. Can’t wait for it to come but can’t wait for it to be over either kind of thing, nawmean?

I heard about the Supreme x Budweiser collab. Weird mix.

But about the in-group/out-group way of thinking…if we didn’t have it then there’d be nothing for us to work towards I guess. Human nature is what makes psychology/anthropology so interesting anyways.

“Sharing with my family who totally havent supported me and think that I am stupid. will enjoy rubbing it in their face!!!”
CO-SIGN x 1234567890!

UCSB is still cool. :)

^ oh, and about “Sharing with my family who totally havent supported me and think that I am stupid. will enjoy rubbing it in their face!!!” …

Yeah, I’ll enjoy that, too. :P

anybody else taking max. units to boost there gpa’s one last time?

Boost it twice. Summer + Fall, they look at your Fall grades through the January update. Private schools also have a chance to look at your Winter grades because a lot of their apps begin in March.

Hey evan…I am trying to send my application for Club Cal…I thought I remember reading that you were accepted to the program. I keep trying to send my application via fax but it wont go through!!! ahhhhh…so frustrating. How is club cal going? have you had to do anything? Is it really beneficial?
