@stylezsick - You don’t need SATs at all to transfer to a UC (for privates, you do). But if you still want to take them for whatever reason, like you don’t want to take a history or lang class, then yeah, you can still take SATs and submit them if you’d like. But you would first submit your scores to the CC and worry about submitting them to a UC after you get in.

Hey thanks for the response! Probably a stupid question but, what do you mean by ‘for privates, you do’? You mean if I was transferring to a ‘private’ school, I would? And are you sure that UCs don’t look at my SATs? Cause for lower division transfers I heard they look if you fulfill the HS requirements.

“But you would first submit your scores to the CC and worry about submitting them to a UC after you get in.”

Could you explain? Thanks again…I’m completely brain dead atm…

Hi Evan!!! (:

I got into my Honors Program as well, I’m really really HYPED! I got the e-mail today…<3333!~~~~~~~~

it’s good to be back home in 日本!!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer like meee! Japanese keyboard…>__<;;

(:

Haha yeah no problem.

If you’re applying to Stanford (for example), they would consider your SAT score(s) though not as much as they probably would to a high school senior. That is, same with any other private college.

UCs don’t factor any SAT (I’s or II’s) scores upon evaluating your application. You don’t even need to have taken SATs to apply or be accepted. I know plenty of people that got into UCLA and Berkeley without having taken any of these tests.

For UCs, you can only apply as an incoming junior (that is, after you have completed 60 units at your community college). They do not take sophomores. They factor in some high school classes you’ve taken. For example, say you took two years of high school Spanish, then you might not have to take any language courses at a UC. You can take SAT II’s whenever you want to and they will help you complete some course requirements (example: If you get a 700 on US History, you don’t have to take World Civilizations at UCLA - kind of thing) but they don’t consider that on your application.

About submitting your scores to a CC, you would have to send your SAT II and AP scores to your community college so that they can take up units and you won’t have to take unnecessary classes. After you enter a UC, you would do the same thing.

Hope that clarifies. I’m not much of an explainer. Haha.

edelynly - thanks for the support

I think I will take the 8 units.
I NEED to learn spanish anyways and the other is just a filler class.

Yunie - congrats : )

Omggggggggg.

i talked to the honors coordinator! you CAN take honors credit courses in the summer! Everyone has been lying to me >:O

In other news, I’m up there with ya’, Erika!

3.71! Anthro! Wee! UCLA!

Guys styleZsick is not going to be considered a “full” transfer because he is applying with 30 or so units… So the UC’s that do accept his app will be primarily be looking at his high school GPA and SAT and SAT II’s…I told him in the other thread.

Yeah so, I’m wondering if they’ll allow me to take the SAT II’s during my Freshman year in college?

style…why dont you just wait another year like the rest of us? There arent very many UC’s that accept transfer students who do not have 60 units. HECK! There isnt many CSU’s that accept people under 60 units. You will save money…if you stay another year. And it will be smarter…so why dont you think about that? Also…if have like a ton of questions, I reccommennnd…going to your counselor at your cc.

Well I’m going to a 4 year Uni, in the East Coast. I wouldn’t really be waiting another year since I have no idea how credits will transfer from my Uni over to UC. So one year may be actually 2 more. You see what I mean? Even if I wait another year and gain 60 credits some of them might not even transfer over. Which will still make me a lower division student if I transfer. If I was a resident from Cali, it would be easier but I’m not.

And I know I’ll save money but imo, worth over cost any day.

OHHHH then this is more serious than I thought. Pick the UC you wanna go to and call a university representative ASAP. This will let you know what is transferable. You need to know all that homie. I suggest move out here…now. Go to a community college for a year and then transfer, so that you are a junior transfer student. I dont even know what UC’s accept lower transfer students… if you are really going to do this you need to get SERIOUS. Ha.

Yeah I’m definitely doing all of those things soon. And hopefully getting in next year. If I don’t, my older brother (graduating in December) is moving out to California for a job and I will hide in his luggage haha.

You anthro majors have GOT this. YEE.

styleZsick - Good luck! I don’t know the situation you’re in. But about SAT IIs, they will take SATs that you’ve taken frosh year. Same goes for AP or ACT tests (or any other test for that matter).

I just got my grades back! 3.83 One B… but I deserved it. 5 As. I did not deserve five As. My teachers are so generous
WOW. Hell yeah I’m so stokedddddddddd.

I wish I was an ANTHO major…LOL

yayaya. happy everyone. (: tyyy erikuh!

You guys mind me asking what college yall are currently attending and what UC you’re aiming for? (or gotten into)

StyleZ, most of the people in this thread are applying this november for Fall 2010 admission.

I go to San Diego City College and I am aiming (like most people) for Berkeley and UCLA.

lol yeah fall 2010! wooo
