Does any one have any new information regarding their waitlist list policies?

I read they are not going to their wait list on the wait list thread.

Does anyone know anything definitive about Amherst? I saw the post on the other thread but that is the only place that I’ve seen any comment about Amherst’s waitlist. Still hoping they may go the waitlist…

I’m really sorry to bring bad news, but Amherst is definitely not going to their wait list. I was offered a position on the waitlist, but declined. However, Amherst still sent me an email yesterday, which stated, and I quote:

*I am writing you to let you know that the returns from those who plan to enroll at Amherst are now in, and the Class of 2014 has been filled. Therefore, we will not accept any additional candidates from the waiting list.

The limitations that cause this decision are those of the College – such factors as the number of dormitory rooms and the size of classes – not shortcomings of the applicants. Indeed we are aware of your accomplishments and wish we could recognize them more appropriately.*

Please remember, though, that as cliche as it seems, it’s really you that determines your future success, not your college. If you have the dedication, you will do fine wherever you go.

I did not receive that email, but I did accept a spot on the wait list…
I also sent my LOCI a few weeks ago and they confirmed receipt a few days ago via e-mail with no indication that they weren’t looking at the wait list. ???
