Please rank the schools in order of prestige. Do not think about the majors, the environment, or anything except your first thought on which is more well known as a school and more respected. Don't just go straight to USNEWS rankings.

Carnegie Mellon
University of Chicago
UCLA
University of Virginia
Vanderbilt
Georgetown

the schools you mentioned will all be most presitigous in their geographic area - none of them are really more presitigous than the others.

i.e. a person from cali will most likely think ucla is better than virginia yet a person from the east coast will most likely think virginia is better than ucla.

I can't agree. Someone from Cali is less likely to think UCLA is a great school, because they live in CA. Everyone in CA applies there, you know people who went there who were dumb, etc. A lot of people in CA assume that UCs are easy to get into, so they apply with their 1.3 GPA and 1100 SATs (new).

I know people who think that as long as you live in CA, Cal is so easy to get into.
