<p>Hi everyone,</p>
<p>i know this is kind of soon and all, but next summer, ill be a high school rising junior and I would LOVE to do an internship next summer. I want to do anything in science. I've been looking around on the web, and the only perfect internship i've found is the nanobiotechnology internship at cornell. i call this "perfect" because they have free room and board plus a $500 stipend for travel. but its really selective, so i want some more to apply to. everything else ive found requires me to go to an area high school, and theres nothing in jersey where i live. </p>
<p>do you guys know of/ been to an science internship with free room and board? i dont need to be paid or anything, i just really want some experience. </p>

<p>I feel you, I’ve had the same issues. I remember Cornell actually being the only one with room/board, but I’ve looked at Duke, vanderbilt, Stanford, etc; they require you to live in their areas. I live in NC, but 4.5 hours form the Research Triangle. :(</p>

<p>My advice: Don’t worry about internships between hs and college. Relax and enjoy your summer. Read some challenging books to keep your mind active. Your opportunities for internships will increase over your college years. Very few companies/schools want to use HS students as interns because of a lack of any experience in the field they are hiring for.</p>
<p>^Yeah, I wish that would be the case, but when you’ve fallen in love with Brown University, you need to stand out somehow in some way. I love biomedical engineering, a research based field, so it may seem odd that I devoted a lot of time to something not pertinent to my intended major. </p>
<p>I do my own car designs and inventing, which I think is awesome as well lol, so maybe that may seem unique (who knows anymore). Sometimes I wish they would draw names out of a hat, your chances probably would enhance that way lol! :)</p>
<p>i know itll be hard finding an internship with a company, im looking something that it more geared towards high school students.</p>
<p>big dreamer- no joke, i am IN LOVE with brown too! i had to go to providence for a project and fell in love with the campus and the town. my favorite sweatshirt is my Brown sweatshirt! :)</p>
<p>Awesome TJheart, maybe we’ll both get lucky and get to attend Brown! I have loved that school for years now, and I loved going to two of their summer camps. Very nice summers, but couldn’t enjoy myself this year! 
I bought a Warren J. Alpert Medical School shirt, and I look super smart now haha lol! 
I’m doing my best to find internships geared toward HS students as well, but why do I have to live in such a small town (although it’s quite lovely here haha) w/o a great state flagship, aaaaaahhh!</p>
<p>@plscatamacchia: Yeah, Brown’s certainly not the best, or cheapest for that matter, for biomedical engineering, but I love Providence and the campus so much. BME usually doesn’t let you have much course freedom, but at Brown you still get several course offerings to fulfill graduation requirements. I’ve read Brown’s, Yale’s, Harvard’s, UPenn’s, Johns Hopkins’,etc. BME curriculum, and Brown sounds the most fun to me! I’m looking into all of the schoosl above, as well as Duke, MIT, Vanderbilt, Caltech, and Georgia Tech. I would love to attend Brown because they have a research team that designs, builds/tests, and markets inventions on campus, another reason why I want to go there. The school is so wonderful, even their food is delicious lol! Thanks for the link! :)</p>
