Next Year's Essays

Im a junior and I want an early start on my essays becuz I dont wanna have to do them senior year (im trying to minimize all work as a senior!). What essays does Penn usually or always require every year?

Check out the Penn admissions website... http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/... everything should be there, just take a look at the applications

1) the Why Penn essay - Describe the courses of study and the unique characteristics of Penn that most interest you.. Why is Penn a good match for you? (1 page)
2) pg 217 essay or "first experiences" essay... or "risk you have taken and now know was a good thing to do" essay (1 page)
3) short answer - "tell us something not apparent in your application"... and by short, i mean REAL SHORT... as in 300 characters (not words, but CHARACTERS.. that means letters AND spaces lol)
4) short answer - "most important moment in history" (300 characters)

... Hope that helped ...

To be honest, I seriously wouldn't start them now. You're just going to wind up changing them or rewriting them come next fall. The earliest I would consider starting is the spring, but that's me.

Tennispro, devote your time to your schoolwork, ECs, and i guess sat prep if you need that kinda thing (being the only guy in your class not to go to any sat classes and outscoring everyone = priceless, but that strategy isn't for everyone). write your essays during the summer. that's what I did.

and penn has been known to change their essays, but that isn't very common. they used to have an essay that everyone did because it was so cool, "if you could sit down to lunch with any person from history who would it be and why" or something like that.

dont bother writing this ish yet...maybe read up on penn or follow this forum if you are that crazy...that will give you PLENTY of ideas for writing your ish....do that later though, cuz in a year, you change as a person (so will your essays)
