next year's stats

Does anyone know whether the application stats for IU are going to change significantly next year. I think it's my safety - but I'm not sure anymore because of how popular it's become.

I'm OOS. My weighted gpa is over 4.0 and unweighted is 3.8. All of my classes are honors or AP - but my SATs are 630 math, 510 cr, and 560 writing. Am I crazy to call IU my safety?

you will get in

Your GPA will get you in if your ECs are okay--but you still might want to consider retaking the SAT (after spending some more time studying this time around). You will need a higher SAT if you want to get direct admission to some of the programs (for example, you will need at least a 1270+ (CR/Math) for direct admission to the business school)

if his ecs are ok? and since when has ecs mattered at iu? sure as hell not this year

zippo, you are right--I forgot that Indiana doesn't take ECs into account unless you are borderline--which is not the case here. Still, depending on the school at Indiana U this person is applying to, he/she may want to retake the SAT.

Yeah. He is guaranteed admission, but if he wants to be a b-school direct admit, a higher SAT score would be good. Of course if IU is his safety, he's applying somewhere else where he would need the higher SAT to get in.

How about for me?

OOS
Top Public school in PA

~3.4 GPA
~1770 on SATs (retaking)
2 Honors Junior year
1 AP, 4 Honors senior year
1 C in HS (Geometry, ugh), the rest As and Bs

GPA good, SAT is a little low, but I suppose good enough.

I'm going to take the SATs two more times. The average GPA for Indiana is about a 1670. Shouldnt I be fine? Especially if I have my app. in the earliest possible?

ur good to go, but if you want scholarships or want to be directly admitted to an undergraduate school like the CAS or business then its best to have a 1850+ sat I score.

Indiana typically doesn't reject applicants unless they are below a 22 ACT and below a 3.0 GPA. You guys should both see about 4K in schoarships per year.

I second the test retakes. IU really likes those high test scores, it helps in scholarship money.

I really dont need scholarships. My dad makes plenty of money. Money is really the least of my concerns. I'm applying ED to BU, and i'll probably apply to IU whenever the earliest I can apply. Would it be safe to call IU a match?

It's a safe match. They accept 81% of their applicants and their average ACT is 24 (SAT 1667), even though test scores aren't what they really care about. It's all about GPA.

Their average GPA is 3.4 for their admitted applicants. If you have good grades (above a 3.0), you're likely going to be admitted. So i'd say you have about an 85% chance of admittance.

You can apply in August, that's when I did. The application is a breeze. No essays, no ECs, no recommendations. Just fill out your information, give the counselor sheet to your counselor, and have them send your transcript. You should have an acceptance in October.

Damn that's insane. I'm for sure applying now. If i dont get into BU ED, IUB looks like a good choice for me. Thanks guys!

Anyone else? :)
