Nfa?

I am an incoming junior transfer, and my major says Economics, NFA. I am assuming NFA stands for Not Formally Accepted, but I don't know.

What exactly does NFA stand for and what does that mean to my major?

Not Formally Admitted to major means that either you have not meet all of the criteria for the major, or it is limited access and you have to apply separately from your admission to the university.

Perhaps you have to have one successful semester at FSU to be formally admitted. You can ask your advisor when your arrive at FSU. Or email and ask.

Here is the MAP. Are you on track for the MAP?
http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/econ.html

Looks like you have to spend a semester before you can formally apply, as it is a limited access major.

Thanks a lot Sunny! I’m going to shoot an email to the undergraduate adviser to see how I can formally apply.

Well Dr. McCaleb replied to my email.

“All first semester transfer students are classified as Economics NFA. At the end of your first semester, your file will be reviewed. If you meet the criteria for admission to the economics majors, you will be automatically reclassified. If you do not meet the criteria, you will have to find a different major.”

Hope this helps for other transfers with questions about NFA.

It also helped me (an incoming freshman) because it says that next to my major.
