I am guessing that by now, all the calls have been made. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten accepted. . . . I am very happy that I can still apply next year : )

I know the chances are small, but I was wondering if ALL the calls had been made.
I entered for visual arts and was wondering if anyone in the mid-atlantic area got a call yet? :/

Iam, I do not think m
id-atlantic area has been called yet. Good luck

You and me both, POTO Mom. :)

Apparently they’re doing notifications a little differently this year. I’m sorry that you guys are having to deal with all of the resulting confusion.

Has anyone in photography heard?

Nope…
I entered for photo…nothing yet
fingers still crossed

Mann I wish they put their results on their website. That way we would know exactly who is in and who is not at the same time. Although the suspense of
hearing your phone ring and answering it to hear the voice on the other end say, “congrats! You’re a finalist,” is really cool. I just want to know if everyone has been called already. They probably have been, but being sure is never a bad thing.

Not ONE CC made it in for music? This is so depressing…

Congratulations to all of you who were selected as finalists!

As it turns out, they select only one finalist in jazz piano per year, and S was not the one. I knew the odds were long, but I hadn’t realized they were that long. If I had, I might have questioned whether the investment in time and emotional energy (and cost) were worth it. But S says that he learned a lot from putting together his audition video and is glad he did it, so I guess I’m glad he did it too. And ever the optimist, he’s now hoping for good news in December when they announce honorable mention and merit award winners. :)

DD’s voice teacher had her apply, not because he thought she could win (she was relatively new singer), but because the experience of preparing the application was so valuable to the rest of her audition season. We also did her prescreens at that same time so it was not an extra or wasted expense. We had it on her applications and it generated some discussions during auditions.

I called them yesterday, and they said that they are STILL making calls until NEXT FRIDAY! O______O?

I called and talked to Eric there yesterday late afternoon and he said the same thing. I would guess that they have made the calls to all the finalists and gave them until next Friday to confirm their participation in the week-long event in January. If anyone can’t make it, the NFAA people to call the next person on the waiting list by next Friday. Is someone interested in calling they to verify my guess? Thanks.

You would think that with all of the questions on here and probably all of the calls that they keep getting that it would make it a lot easier on them if they could just post some real facts and updates about the process on the website or blog.

One other question - does anyone know whether or not they provide any feedback to the people who apply or is it just you are a finalist, honorable mention, merit or nothing?

I called today, according to the woman that answered, calls won’t be finished made for quite a while, so it’s looks like w’ere in for a wait…

And so begins the waiting game

This is cruel and unusual punishment… I give up @___@

CC posters… this is my first post, although I have followed CC for several years as my son has worked his way through H.S. To add some clarity to the NFAA Young Arts notifications, my son received a call last Sunday afternoon (11/21) notifying him that he is a finalist in MT. They followed the call with an e-mail outlining the details, a FAQ document, and registration materials. He had to call NFAA by 11/29 to confirm his participation and provide them information for scheduling his flights. The final registration packets is due back to NFAA by the first week in December. I hope this helps… and good luck to everyone!

@robbinsnest5 - It looks like our kids will be together as MTs in Miami! Sounds like big fun!! Hope he’s more motivated about getting the paperwork finished than DD is so far. ;-)

@BaritoneDad: Unfortunately, there isn’t any feedback beyond the prize levels. They used to give a 1-10 rating until about three years ago, but now the only people who can infer their numerical ratings are finalists (10), honorable mention winners (9), and merit winners (8).

@MomCares – LOL… he made the call yesterday to confirm his attendance and finally printed out the paperwork. There are so many “loose ends” with college essays, applications, scholarships, etc, that I can understand why they seem a little paralyzed at times. Congratulations to your daughter… It sounds like Miami will be a great experience!
