Would you put National Honor Society in the Activities section, or in the Honors section?

I am putting mine in activities even though you have to apply to get in. We are also required to do service in our NHS so i am adding that in the explanation.

I am putting mine as an honor because at my school that is honestly all that it is. I haven’t done a single thing as an NHS member other than show up for initiation one night, receive a certificate that misprinted my name, and eat dessert. All it really signifies is that I have a high enough GPA to be in and I did some service hours beforehand, hours which I would have done anyways.

At other schools people may be very involved in NHS, or at least involved in some level that justifies it as an activity, like having a leadership position. Although I would argue that even the people in leadership positions at my school’s NHS do nothing at all… It may be different at other schools. If you see it as an activity, list it as an activity. Otherwise, list it as an honor.

Put it wherever you have the most space! Most students do not have lots of academic awards, so I my daughter put her academic society (not NHS) in honors.

It is both depending on whether you have better honors to list your top 5.

You have activities under NHS that can be a lot of hours of community service based on whether you participated. Otherwise, it can just be an honor.

Depends on if you an active member or if you have a leadership position if yeah then its an EC. If not honor
