I currently have 2.25 hours out of the 3 required "in NHS" hours for Juniors... do you think they could kick me out for being 3/4 hour short or do oyu think they will just ignore it?

omg..you only need 3! I need 30....

^can you please respond to the question? thank you

Depends on your school. Some are leinent and some are strict. At my school you probably would because they're really strict.

(preaching/rant on)

Let me first say that it is appalling to me that someone claiming to be an NHS member can't even get three hours of service-especially when others, including myself, are required to have thirty and in actuality achieve many more. It's really not that hard - and if you were truly in NHS for its purpose - to serve others and the community - it should require no effort at all.

(preaching/rant off)

Anyways, from what my advisor has told me, obviously if someone is 5-thirty hours short they're going to get cut. If they were closer, maybe not.
But, in your situation, since the requirement is relatively low, so too will be the margin of acceptable slacking, IMO.

you only did 75% of the hours...

as a side note, how hard is it really to get 3 hours? that's one afternoon of doing something, and not even the entire afternoon...

^I have plenty of "out NHS" hours... I need "in NHS" hours, which only come from very restricited specified activities that don't give many hours...

these "in NHS" hours can only come from certain specified activities... I volunteer every sunday for 4 hours so I have enough community service, but it's just I need 3 hours that come from specified activities that involve other NHS members and usually benefits the school, which aren't very many.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh with my original wording, and thanks for clarifying the situation. In this case, however, you should have your answer already: did you participate in all of the NHS activities you possibly could, or not. If you did, you probably won't get kicked out. If you didn't, well, good luck.

BTW, my nhs requires 15 "in NHS" hours, with limited opportunities, and 15 other hours. Best of luck with your situation: and remember, who really cares about NHS: its the service you do that really matters in the long run.

ok I'll answer your question...

No i don't think they will kick you out.

However..me answering your question doesn't do you any good :p

can anyone tell me what is NHS PLAN

At my school, Juniors (new memebers) need 20 hours and seniors need 40. I don't tihnk they really care, but lots of kids resort to changing some times around (ironic). This year, the adviosrs got really hard-@ssed because they didn't like a lot of the juniors.

Our NHS chapter requires 15 hours and a group service project. The 15 hours can come however.

Two years in a row, I was chosen Volunteer of the Year. Junior year I had nearly 400 service hours. Senior year I have no clue how many I had because I didn't even finish filling out my service card.

My school requires only 8 group and 8 individual hours per year. If a person fails to complete them, they start with negative hours the next year.

I'm in NHS at my school, and we don't have to have any hours...

This is bull. I need15 hours a semester, so do not get angry about 3 hours. If you do not have 3 hours I think that you do not deserve to be in NHS.

Instead of inserting your own ignorant commentary about my situation, why don't you read what I said in later posts? For junior year, we need 3 hours of "in NHS hours" and 3 hours "not NHS" hours. Those 3 hours have to come from specific delineated activities that often only give 30 minutes of IN NHS service. I have over 800 hours of community service, so don't make any stupid assumptions idiot

slacker much? hah. well, it obvi depends on your advisor...plus, the quantity of hours is so low that even not doing the third hour could be a big deal. The NHS advisor at my school makes everyone do 10 in school, 10 out of school, and tutoring hour (1 x a week for 50 mins) and TRACKS IT LIKE CRAZY. and def kicks people out. My friend, a junior, got kicked out because she assumed that 8 was enough...too bad the teacher had light a bullet pointed list of every event she'd missed or not been til the end of

does being/not being in NHS really matter for college admissions?
