I'm a soon-to-be senior in high school, and I was wondering how much weight National Honors Society has when it comes to admissions and getting accepted. Obviously test scores and GPA are more of a priority, but recently I missed a deadline for logging chapter community service hours (don't know if this is typical of other chapters...ours requires a 3.5 GPA and 12 service hours per semester). With two missed meetings on top of this, there's a good chance I will not be a member as of this fall. I'm not too heartbroken about this, considering I'll be holding three leadership positions this year in my other ECs (VP for our thespian troupe, Quiz Bowl team captain and STEM club pres), and I feel like having the time to devote more time and effort to things I really care about will benefit me in the long run. I just can't get over the fact that I was essentially kicked out (or soon will be) of national honors society, and I feel like a failure because of it. It is most definitely my fault...not denying that...but my question is will my other leadership roles make up for not graduating as an NHS member?

Thanks for any input
