Nhs

Even though many entries say nhs doesn't really matter, as a parent and educator, I differ on this opinion. it is a great opportunity for students to experience gathering writing and organizing information about them that will make their qualities stand out, shine ---much like a job or college application. the confidence gained from getting in the nhs is a reflection of their hard work and attention to detail --it is satisfying and unmeasurable!!

zaki: what you’re saying is true. But at many high schools, NHS is a paper thin club with almost nothing. It varies school by school. And the opportunity you speak of is available in many non-NHS vehicles.

Your view of it is rosy – good for you. For experienced college admissions officers, their mileage may vary.

NHS can be an avenue for good-looking activities on a resume. “NHS- member,” however, is practically meaningless. Of course, this doesn’t mean NHS can’t have value outside of college applications-- I don’t think anyone is arguing that.
