at my school if you get invited and fill out the application right then you get it. it sucks because there are a ton of stupid people in there who have good GPAs because they take easy classes. i enjoy NHS though, but i guess i kind of have to, I AM an officer after all..

NHS at my school is pretty good. Everyone goes to them for tutoring, save the languages which go to the respective language honor societies. About 70% get in. And the sponsor is really anal about following instructions. Some of the most qualified applicants in the senior class got rejected because they wrote their application in pencil instead of pen. I applied for it this year, and now all I have to do is wait to see if I get a rose delivered to me.

If it makes anyone feel better, my brother was rejected twice but accepted into Northwestern. One of his friends with a perfect ACT score was also rejected. :)

No. It just kind of disgusts me that NHS claims to be the club for good academic students with community service spirit when it is just the club for the preppy kids at my school.

NHS at my school is a joke. Provided you have a 3.5 gpa (which is so incedibly easy) and don't lie on your application, you're in.

at my school there are two rounds, one when we were sophmores and one when we were juniors. 9.7% get in as sophmores(the best) and then another 9.7% get in as juniors(great but not the best). it is true though, all the members are preppy except for me and like 2 other kids and it sucks because they will just vote for eachother to get positions and not the person who rightfully deserves it. oh yeah and the advisor is a nut case......when in NHS meeetings he is holy and kind.....but out of the meetings he is adouche bag and judges you on how you dress. he hates the "hippie" look

lol we dont do anything in nhs in our school, and mostly everyone is in it.

at my school we have to have above a 3.5, lots of community service, and a leadership role(like pres of a club) to be invited. then about 1/4 of these people get in.

haha... our NHS is just a name. seems like most are, from this thread. I wonder if colleges even care?

Our NHS is selected by having 3.5+ gpa, community service, leadership stuff. It's not super selective but not just anyone gets in.

I talked to an admissions officer @ UNC-CH once about NHS, and he basically told me they couldn't care less if people were in it because, as we've pretty much proved here, it's a joke at most schools.
