Wandering about MIT today as our CPW starts to really get under way I noticed some odd looking Techs around campus. They are apparently the response to the cannon abduction by MIT last CPW. They are funny, not hostile, and genuinely well done takes on the Tech. Very nice. I look forward to what my hacker friends (I am not personally into that kind of thing) here have in store for a response next CPW.

Now, there is of course one complaint of this prank which does not actually have anything to do with this year's hack but rather last year's. I've heard from multiple sources complaints of the "unoriginality" of MIT's response last year due to it being a homage to Harvey Mudd's prank (it was actually very near to some anniversery as I understand it), but yet I come to find originality lacking in CalTech's own response. I am not even a hacker and I know of at least 4 different hacks done on the Tech in recent years, it is a popular target. Hopefully this will lay to rest those complaints.

So congradulations on the well done parody of the Tech.

Unfortunatly I don't have any, but be patient, they should go up soon enough I'm sure, but I'll have to ask my hacker friends. Again, I'm not really the Hacker type here at MIT, so it might be more likely one of the participating CalTech students has a full blown description of it.

It should be noted that the CalTech students who did this didn't even arrive until yesterday or something (or so I heard) and they're still here handing out the fake Techs around campus. This stuff literally showed up hours ago, so it might take a while.

I think The California Tech staff just did this one on their own. I don't know if it's our "official" response to the Fleming cannon heist (shouldn't Fleming be responding to that one about now? ;))

Edit: You might have to be in the Caltech network to view the link, I don't remember.

The MIT cannon theft was really just a response to our CPW t-shirts ;-P So this is really a response to a response! Or something. Maybe it's just good old fun hehe

This was very well done - I really liked the mouse ears on the dome!

The prank was announced by the head of admissions during a parent meeting during CPW. all the faculty on the stage were laughing as they flipped through the paper.

Hey thanks for that link. One of my friends brought a paper back from MIT- it was well done, and I'm glad to get a chance to read it again (I can't find the jumbler though).

As a Wellesley student, I'm glad to know I can get $750 a month for my sperm!
