Today I got a personal note from the President of Georgetown University. I was surprised, and it was kind of cool because it specifically mentioned my work in the Boy Scouts (I'm an Eagle); apparently it was what the admissions office "particularly liked." Did anyone else get similar letters?

Yes, D received letter today complimenting her aggressive schedule and highlighting her theatre work. Very nice.

yes, i got one. funny tho, im an eagle but they chose to mention my musical skills instead

Yes I got one too. Georgetown's personalized christmas cards, phones calls, and letters from the President are really nice!

Hehe me too. Mine talked about my involvement in school publications and journalism. I think they are trying to rope in the EA acceptances. ;]]

Hmmmm the Prez didn't mention any of my specific achievements, but I marked down community service as something I was interested on my app and there was a paragraph in his letter about how Georgetown is active in community service.

Generally, the consensus seems to be that this letter takes things from your short essay, but do tell if that theory doesn't hold for you. I believe you'll get a similar letter later in the year.

Did all of you receive acceptances already from Georgetown, or were you exceptional candidates who were singled out?

I, too, got one yesterday mentioning my work on school publications. I think it is for those of us who have gotten in EA.

Mine just talked about how I could continue my fight for social justice at Gtown, but it wasn't very detailed...

are you all already accepted students from EA?

Yes, we are. When you get accepted, you get a few congratulatory phone calls, letters, things of that nature. It's really nice! It's a good feeling, how after fighting to get in, once they accept you it's their turn to fight over you!

Getting all of this attention really feels good; I have to agree. The transfer of power in this process is interesting: first we have the power when choosing where to apply, then the schools have the power in choosing who to accept, and now we have the power again in choosing where to go.

thats true i didnt see it that way....ill feel a lot better about it in april =)

i hope to be part of the class of 2013 with you guys!! I'll know in April!!

Yes, I got that letter, too! My short essay was about my participation in my church youth group, and the letter mentioned my interest in "deepening my faith". So I think the short-answer theory holds...

yup. Mine detailed swimming. But that was not apart of my short essay so it must be a fairly personable admission staff...

I think it's great that they are sending all these congratulations letters, cards, calls etc. to us! I haven't gotten anything like it from any other school... but I guess that just proves Georgetown is the best!

I, too, got a "personalized" letter from the President (it would have seemed a bit more personal if he had signed it with a pen!). But if they don't give me the financial aid I need, I will definitely bring up the President's letter! haha
