Somebody please recommend a good Nietzsche book to me. I'm a beginner to him and philosophy, but very curious. okay thanks.

I think Thus Spoke Zarathustra is his most famous book. I’ve read parts of On the Genealogy of Morals.

@halcyonheather, thanks! They’re in English, right?

No, they’re German, on account of him being German. There would be English translations of his more popular works though.

The originals weren’t, but in the United States you’d probably be more likely to find an English translation than anything else.

the problem i don’t know German.
@HatebeinSober or anybody, can you recommend a book or so by him, popular and good ones, in English? Thanks.

Like I said, they’ve translated his major books. I don’t think he even spoke English, let alone wrote in it.

You can find almost anything in English…you’ve probably read a lot of translated stuff. If you go to the library and find a Nietzsche book, it’ll be an English translation. I don’t even know where you’d find a German version in this country. People probably read Nietzsche without even knowing the originals were in German.

Just wondering, why are you interested in Nietzsche specifically?

yes that is what I want - the English translation. I know he didn’t write in English. :D

You might also want to look into an ethics/philosophy class. I find that sometimes it is hard to visualize these types of abstractions just by reading a book by yourself.

You should learn German and read them in German, because the medium is the message and everything’s better in German :)
