Whats it like? Parties in the dorms or do you have to go to LA and Hollywood to find stuff to do.? Thankss

I heard it’s one of the driest campus when it comes to weekends and nightlife… LA is close but yeah. I mean if you own a car in Irvine you’ll have things to do.

If you’re a social person, there will always be something to go to at a friend’s place. There are clubs and bars closeby in adjacent cities such as Newport Beach (UCI is located right at the boundaries of Irvine and Newport Beach). As for driving, you will still have to drive to go places unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for taxis.

Of course there are parties on campus. If it’s a big deal to you, then join a frat or sorority.

If you’re imaging the type of college parties in the movies, with 200+ really good looking students dancing in their underwear dancing on tables and stuff, you won’t find that here in Irvine. (Although I don’t know you’ll find it anywhere…)

There are plenty of bars/places within driving distance (get a DD!). Newport Beach, Long beach, etc.

And in terms of house parties things, Newport houses are always cool and theres almost always something in VDC or one of the courts (stanford, dartmouth, etc).

The only real issue is how you can get to and fro. Unless you and the party are in the same housing complex, it can be an issue. plus the whole DD thing… a car helps.

EDU (Electronic Dance Union), basically the DJ club, at UCI threw a pretty big party tonight. They’re new this year, and today was their first event. They plan on doing more and giving UCI a nightlife. They said they’re expecting their next event to be during Welcome Week, so look out for that! :D

you can find that at UCSB haha! The bad part of UCI’s nightlife is that it requires a car and a DD. It’s just a complicated process and makes it much harder to find parties. But I suggest you make lots of friends (floormates and dormmates) so if you’re bored you can hit people up and do something.
