If anyone attends or has attended, please describe your typical Thursday, friday, and satuday night please? Is the social scene vibrant and fun? I plan on joining a fraternity if
I end up going to a college with Greek life, put do the 5Cs make up for their lack of frats/sororities with a vibrant nightlife. I'm really thinking of applying to Pitzer ED by the way.

The claremont colleges always have a lot of parties going on every weekend, which can vary in quality/ attendance, but you can count on something going on 99% of the time. There are various big parties throughout the year (most of them held at harvey mudd but everyone can go to) which are usually the craziest/most fun. However there is always “pub” at pomona on wednesday nights, TNC- thursday night club at CMC on thursdays, and fridays there may be a few parties going on but usually not school sponsered. Saturday there is also some sort of party/ event planned, usually more than one. You can always bet that something is going on, and if you’re really involved you can have fun almost every single night (if you have the time of course). In my opinion, however, many of the parties are dissapointing (not to say lots of people don’t enjoy them/ get drunk for them) and you can get pretty bored of them, especially after freshman year. Many people simply prefer to hang out with their friends and do their own thing.

hmm so after freshman year you don’t really have fun anymore? I was afraid things get repetitive at small LACs but I thought with the resources and people surrounding each other nightlife would be a little more diverse? Anyway do you have friends at each college so as to make you comfortable with attending their parties and events? Thanks!

Lol, of course after freshman year people have fun! The fun you have, however, will (in my case, and in the case of many non-freshman) come less from attending the large parties every fri/sat night and more from hanging out/ doing whatever you want with your friends. I would say the party scene is better than most LAC’s because there are 5 colleges. You really don’t need to make friends with students to feel comfortable at another college’s party because 1) there will most likely be a lot of students from your college at the party and 2) no one really cares which college you go to, and the music is going to be so loud that having a real conversation is near impossible anyways. However, you will most likely make friends with students from other schools anyway. I would say this is especially true if you attend any college thats not Pomona because Pomona is large enough that you never have to venture to another campus for any class. Just a side note-I am a Pomona student and have made friends with non Pomona kids from taking classes at Pomona. Regardless if you attend an LAC or big state college, parties will tend to get repetitive as you progress through your collegiate career IMO.
