Hi,
I wanted to get an NIH internship over the summer; however, it states that you must be 16+ at the time of the internship, which means that I'll have to wait until junior-to-senior summer to get that internship because I have a "late" birthday. Do any of you know whether or not they are willing to make exceptions for this? I'm only a month away from 16 (by the time the internship will start).
thanks :)

NIH seems to be very specific about its age restriction (i.e. "you must be at least 16 years of age on June 1, 2007") but I have a few friends who did an internship there last summer who would have turned 16 1-2 months after the cutoff, so it's definitely possible. I just have no idea what they did to get in.

I interned at NIH two summers ago, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences that I've had. The age requirement is a very important one though -- you can't legally work with radiation or some other materials in the lab if you're not 16. But who knows, if you're that close to being 16, it's definitely worth a try :)

Best of luck!

I emailed NIH, and they said no... oh well... i was offered another lab job... hm.
