nope. they dont but it helps of course.
the intern im workin with didnt have any.

thisyearsgirl, quite a few of my friends didn't get in between 11/12th, found internships at other labs (georgetown, etc), then got into nih this year. i think that mentors prefer people with experience since they already have some sort of a handle on what's required. however, i don't think it's necessary for you to have worked somewhere else before, since some i know did get into nih for their first internship.

:)

Thanks; I'll look into it. :)

Do you guys know where we get our termination forms for our internship?

you should email your AO or just write a resignation letter, that should be fine.

Woohoo. Poster day is over :) and so is my research project :(. I have to go home tomorrow. Im a lil bummed.

Yeah I actually had to leave before poster day. I'll be coming back next summer for a longer time but saying goodbyes and having to leave my huge lab notebook were really sad!! I can't wait to go back!

Yeah. my boss wined and dined me and gave me a book.
im totally coming back.

Yeah I know the last days were filled with tons of free food! Hey did you stay at AU? I thought I remembered someone else saying there were going to be at the NIH and staying there....I actually met a couple people on my floor who were working at the NIH which was pretty awesome but everything on the campus is so spread out and people have different schedules etc.

I can't believe the summer is practically over...I have a week and a half before move-in for college!!

im planning to apply for an nih internship next summer. Living one bus ride away from the nih really helps. :-)

do you guys know if you can do a project for Siemens or Intel competitions during the summer internship at NIH?

i think that it says it in the contract. If not, discuss it with your mentor.

Hey, are any students who interned at NIH returning this summer? If so, let's start a thread or something to get to know each other better this time around. I know I would have loved to meet you guys in real life. I really liked D.C., and can't wait to go back once my mentor approves my application.
