Hi, I would very much appreciate if any one who attended NIH SIP may please share their experiences of the program and on how you got to manage housing ,transportation, etc. I live in California and am not familiar with the place. Also, wondering if you found the program to be fun or too hectic or manageable and the level of expectations. I am wondering if I can manage and hence have been debating whether to apply or not. Any information shared in the regard would be extremely helpful. Thanks a lot!l

There is no need to debate where to apply or not. There is a need to debate whether you can go there or another program.

It is tough and no different than a program like SIMR where they do not provide accommodations either. The local area has many people who advertise and sublet accommodations. There is a link given to you in the SIP literature. NIH gives you a travel pass so there is no need spend any money commuting by metro.

The main issue is food. If you can make that part work, staying and commute won’t be an issue.

Thank you very much! Your advice helped a lot.
