Hi. I am a junior who applied for 2008 NJ Governor's School of Science. I recently got my PSAT score and I was dismayed, because I didn't do well this year...(sophomore 2370 -> junior 2220).
I wonder how much my decreased score will affect my application. I already have good GPA (4.19 unweighted), SAT II's (physics, chemistry: 800 us history: 780), and some decent ECs (Columbia University Science Honors Program, NJ Science League, AMC&AIME, school newspaper photo editor, fencing, etc.) My teachers' recommendation papers were really good, and I think my essay was fine too.
Does a lower PSAT score deeply affect my chance of getting into Governor's School? I've heard a lot of nice things about this program, and I sincerely want to get in. The projects they do there seem challenging but awesome as well...

Thank you all for your patient reading, and I wait for your helpful counsel.

um. The science website says that county nominations were due today, and that they would be emailing people if their app got sent to the state. However, it also says that only 4 counties have been notified... I wanna know if I made it this far!

to the OP, i think ur stats are fine. i wouldn't worry about it too much. i went to international studies last yr and there were a good range of sats scores from prolly 2100 to 2400 (we had two of them lol)...maybe sciences care more? idk, but from what u hv u look pretty good...best of luck

I haven't looked back at this post for a while, but thank you all for your replies. I passed through the county level, so I hope I can make it through March and get into the program :-)

how do you know if you passed through the county level?

I asked my counselor and she said that we wouldn't find out until April if we made it into the program, but we wouldn't find out if we made it past counties or not...wth
