I haven’t heard about anyone who found out for E&T yet, so I’m just gonna have to wait I guess!

Got my rejection email. Sincere congrats to everyone who did get into the GS Sciences.
Looks like I’m stuck at Waksman this summer.

For those of you applying to Engineering and Technology, this is posted on their webpage:

For those of you who did not do Science, decisions have not come out.
Engineering: 8:00 April 5th

Environmental: Check your Confirmation email from February. Decisions come April 10th for us…

damn. i was hoping my 228 on psats would give me some precedence. ugh! so nerve wracking!

The PSAT scores posted thus far by NJGSS acceptees are surprisingly unimpressive.

Three-quarters are below the NJ selection index for National Merit Scholar Semifinalist.

Surely the organizers could have identified superior applicants. Hundreds and hundreds of superior applicants.

Are the scores posted unrepresentative? Or has the selection process degenerated into a farce?

Got into NJGSS - 238
I was really nervous about the essays, but I guess it turned out ok in the end
Congrats/good luck to everybody!

Just letting you know, PSAT scores aren’t the only determining factor. And I’m sure the selection committee is not going to let a single standardized test decide who is accepted.

@ gziwi77

Of course, PSAT scores were not the only determining factior.

Nor should they have been.

My point was that the program has become a farce and a fraud if it has accepted persons who were not in, or even close to, the top decile of state juniors…and who presumably were not in, or even close to, the top half of applicants.

Mediocre acceptees make a mediocre program.

The state deserves better.

Agreed, but I think it’s a bit premature to call the program a farce…

I mean, my PSAT was terrible, but I make up for it in other areas. We don’t know who else applied, who else was accepted, and who was rejected.

As for the state… well let’s just say all of the budget cuts and our new education-loving governor probably don’t bode well for NJGS.

I got into GS Sciences. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys!

Anyone know how many people total are accepted into the program?

judging from the picture on the eng and tech site, there were about 60 last year. now if 30 are truly cut…

Hmm… the NJGSS website makes it look like close to 100 (based on previous years)… but it’s possible that number has been cut. :/

any one know what higher level schools think of this program? [specifically the science one]

I’d assume it can only help you!

It is a prestigious organization, which is extremely selective, and shows that you are self-motivated as a student.

i know. the choice for me is this or calc III at a community college so i have to make a decision

Has anyone gotten an e-mail about the Governors School of Engineering and Technology yet?

^No still waiting.

still waiting. environment came out this afternoon, but no one on cc applied to it apparently…
