15 finalists for each school or 15 total?

I had to go ask my department supervisor (science department for environment, engineering, and science) and ask him. He was like "uh, oh yeah, I think we received something about that last week by email..." Only half the guidance counselors seem to know. I never got anything my mail/email.

It definitely isn't 15 per school. We had at least 7 scholars from my school last year.

Well, I got notified by mail.

What I mean by 15 for each school is, is it 15 finalists from each county for science and 15 for engineering and 15 for international etc or is it just 15 in total per county (equaling about 3 per county for each different school)

school, email and than snailmail

15 from each county for each specific school

Oh haha just kidding.

How'd you hear 15, though?

Via mail...But what is the PSAT score thing about?

what do u mean? they send all ur SAT scores

No, because most juniors (in my school at least) haven't taken the SAT. My advisor said if you did take the SAT and PSAT, they take the most recent test you've taken. I took the June SAT and October PSAT, so she sent the PSAT. Thank God too, because it was MUCH better.

I wonder if they only let those that advance to the next level know? that doesn't make sense though, as noone i know has found out yet. grr, inept guidance counselors...

I think you mean inept superintendent of education for your county...what county are you in?

S/he's in Princeton, so Mercer, like me.

@psychicspiesfromchina - have you asked your gc specifically for the results? If they don't know, ask who would. Also, check with your department supervisor (social studies for international relations and public issues, science for sciences, engineering, and environment, etc). And an administrator.

heyyy im a finalist for the sciences too! i got an 800 on the math PSAT and thats basically my only applicable stat for standardized tests so far.....what do you think my chances are? p.s. what county are you from?

It's tough to say with Gov School. They look at a variety of factors, including where in NJ you're from, your recs, and all sorts of things that you don't really know as much about or have as much control about as your test scores.

I believe Sciences, Engineering, and IS are the toughest schools to get into, but alas, I'm not omniscient.

GSPI is very competitive for girls but not so much for guys.

Haha we should turn this into a Gov School chances thread.

Yeah, my teacher warned us of the evils and threat of counties like Morris and Sussex (I'm from Warren)

theoneo- is the gov school in the sciences also really competitive for girls? i would think that's strange because science is usually male-dominated, but you never know......

haha this is turning into a chances thread......do you think we'll be notified earlier than march 29 or w/e it says on the website b/c i got the e-mail saying im a finalist or w/e a week and a half ago and we're not supposed to be notified until jan. 30 (according to the website)

theoneo - yeah, i talked to the supervisor of the guidance counselors today. apparantly, they heard that we (all the nominees) advanced to state level..but she didn't think it was important so she didn't tell me. so yeah, inept guidance counselors.

no wayyy....that sucks i thought i was at least a wee bit special for advancing to the state level.

then why would it say congratulations for making it this far in the process at the bottom of the e-mail from the gov school??

I thought the same. I wonder how many people don't make it to state level.
