wondering if people have experience with one or both - would you recommend one over another?
I wish I had some information for you. All I can tell you is that my daughter has a friend that goes to Hun and is really happy there. Like I said, not much help…
Both good schools, although I think most would say Hun is a better school. Hun is very sports-orientated, so I would consider that factor. Both schools have a preppy reputation. In terms of college placements, Hun seems to do much better. We have friends at both and both are happy depending what factors are important to you in choosing.
I live in the area and have friends at both…
I would say it depends on what your looking for… Both have great athletics, Hun a little more so, and have a more relaxed vibe imo
Hun does have better academics and college counseling going, on but Pennington has a unique special ed program if that affects you
Just my observations- The social scene at both are *very different, at least for my class- Pennington kids tend to hang out with themselves and the public school (hopewell valley) nearby and theres always Pennington kids at the hopewell parties, while the Hun kids tend to have a very large social circle that encompasses a lot of schools
Hun also has a pretty cool history, not sure if you’ve checked that out!
My bottom line: Hun.
Both schools are good and similar in many ways. Pennington draws a large portion of kids from Bucks county PA. Hun has more kids from the central NJ area.
Both have a fairly small percentage of boarders (mostly internationals). Athletics at Hun are better in most sports.
Pennington is known for its learning center and is good for kids who need accommodation. Hun has a similar program.
Overall not a huge difference between the schools.
Congratulations, Rathgar! Both excellent schools.
My impression is that Hun is slightly stronger academically, but they’re really not so different. I’d choose based on which “feels” better to you and your interests. I’ve known families that have sent kids to both and have been happy with both. The differences are in the details – if you’re an elite soccer player, for example, pick Pennington. While both have good academic support, my impression is that each school has its strengths (i.e, one is better with auditory processing issues while the other may be stronger with visual processing issues.) Go to the re-visit days for both and see which one feels better; you won’t go wrong.
