NJ vs NY Public Med School

I'm anticipating applying to medical school in about 2 years. Right now, I live in NJ right outside of New York City but I anticipate moving into NY in the coming months. However, I'm not sure whether when it comes time to applying for medical school, I should have my primary residence in New York City or move it back to NJ. Both would be an option but would require some planning. Does anybody know which state's public med schools give more of an advantage to in-state applicants. Does anybody have any thoughts on which state has better public medical schools? Also, does anybody know what is required to demonstrate residency for in-state admission to either state's public med schools? Thanks!!
