Hey all! I’m a white hispanic female from northern new jersey and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how they think my stats look for NJ Gov school, as well as give me any tips for the application?
my test scores are kinda eh… (how much do you think test scores will impact me? i’m not a very good test taker )
SAT: 1560 (1570 superscored) with 7/7/7 essay
PSAT: scores aren’t in yet but expecting 1500-1520
Math II Sat: 800
Chem Sat: 750 (i know its really bad ahhh i need to retake it)
GPA: 4.6 weighted
I don’t have any previous research experience, but I do have various extracurricular clubs, such as science team, math team, finance club, a community service/volunteer club, and FNHS and NTHS honor societies. I also got to the semifinals of a national competition last year called euro challenge for economics.
Classes: Took AP Micro/Macro Econ my sophomore year, got 5s on both
Junior year: AP Calc AB, AP Physics, APUSH, AP French, AP Comp Sci. I have As in all my classes
Will my eh test scores or my lack of previous research experience hurt my chances? Would my advanced classes and good grades make up for it? I really really want to do gov school it would mean so much to be to get accepted. Do you guys have any general tips for the application or something I can do to help my chances? Thank you so much!
Also P.S. do you think I should apply to any other summer programs? I was thinking MIT MITES and Clark Scholars but I’ve heard they’re super competitive so if I don’t get into gov school i definitely wouldn’t get into those… any other free summer programs that focus on math or science that you know of? thanks!
