So i got accepted to both and i'm having a tough time deciding what school to go to. Money is not a problem since i got my financial aid package for both and im getting the tuition fully cover with the grants/scholarships. I'm thinking of majoring in engineering, either computer or mechanical engineering. I know NJIT is the "technology" school but i don't really like neward all that much and when i went to the campus i didn't really like it too much. I've been to FDU(metropolitan campus) and it looks great and gives off a very relaxing atmosphere. The only problem is that i'm not too sure if the engineering program is as good as the one in NJIT. Any thoughts?

In this case NJIT. Shamelessly, I have to admit I went to both, FDU for my MBA, that was the only option I had as it was a company paid program. NJIT, I took some CS courses. I did not like the class and the surroundings, but at least it provide Engineering. FDU, I don’t know much.

NJIT is better for engineering even if indeed the surroundings aren’t great.
Look into the Engineering programs at FDU. The campus and surroundings are much better, but… do they offer the majors you want? Engineers are judged on performance first - grades, work experience/practical or hands on experience, internships. Does FSU offer a supportive environment for engineers? If their results are good then there’s no reason not to go there, but investigate carefully before you make your decision based on the campus looks.

Before you make your decision, send the same questions to the office of admissions:
Can they put you in touch with professors and students (both freshmen and seniors) in engineering? What percentage of students have an internship lined up and where have current students been doing their internships (and if no one can answer it’s a problem - engineering students shouldn’t have trouble finding internship in the NJ NYS area) ? What companies (if any) recruit on campus? What are the resources of the career center and what’s its budget? Are the first-year classes “weed out” and if so, what percentage of the first year class has to change majors?

FDU seems to have one of the best Electrical Engineering programs in the state, i wouldn’t mind majoring in EE while specializing in computers for my MS. Think i’ll be taking that and the internship opportunities seem to be decent as well.

If EE is good for you, and you could probably add a CS minor, FDU is a good pick. So, congratulations on your choice!
