NJIT (or maybe something else)

Hi,

I'm a community college student in New Jersey. I'm planning on transferring to NJIT, but I'm also considering other NJ schools such as Stevens and Rowan (I'm excluding Rutgers because the campus is butt-ugly and the bus system seems ridiculous). I want to major in Biochem, but I wouldn't be opposed to straight Chemistry or ChemEng. I have a GPA of 3.33, and have taken 24 credits. I also have 8 credits from my AP Chem score (5) and am taking 12 more credits this semester, for a total of 44 before I transfer to whichever school I end up choosing. I'd like to know what my chances are with the schools I listed, and which you would recommend based on my chosen field. If you have any other NJ school recommendations for me, I'd be glad to hear them.

P.S. My dream school is UC Berkeley. I don't think I can get in, but if you think otherwise, I would very much like to know.

I don’t know enough to give you a definitive answer, but engineering curricula are pretty much pre-programmed with little in the way of general education. So, depending on the classes you’ve taken at CC, you might be looking at 3-4 years anyway.

SpacemanEd,

If I were to start in the fall, I would have General Bio 1 & 2, Gen Chem 1 & 2, O Chem 1 & 2, English Comp 1 & 2, Modern Europe 1, Stat and Probability, and Calc 1 as well as the associated labs for all the science courses under my belt. However, I was more interested in what my chances are for the listed schools, and which you think would be preferable given my field of interest.

Thanks for the response.
