Is the National Leadership Student Conference anything special??? Is it worth applying??? Or is it a waste of time and money??? Is there any benefits to it???

Is it part of LeadAmerica? I am an alumnus of the NJLC (National Junior Leaders Conference), and if it's part of LeadAmerica, it's worth spending money on.... I promise.
It's not just for nerds or losers/loners or anything, so don't be expecting that. You'll meet people you'll remember forever, as well as learn an equally important amount about your field of study.
You might get homesick, though. I personally didn't, but I know a few that did (and you're weak if you do) and it sucked for them.
But yeah. if it's a part of LeadAmerica, it WILL be good. I guarantee it.

Srry for the typo its NSLC....
I have no idea if its part of LeadAmerica....What I'm really asking is it really as great as it is portraited....I'm not worried about nerds or losers, or anything, I'm jsut wondering if they like invite everyone that "goes to school", thus pretty much making it worthless to me...Will I actually gain any benefits, because I really don't want to waste my time or $900 on this

About being homesick, good thing its being hosted at the local uni, so I'll probably select that as my location of choice

I got the same thing and from what I have heard, it is a good program...but dont consider it to be a hook or something of that sort to colleges becuase it is NOT one. if you are interested in going to it you should go.

~A hook, no ofcourse I know its far beyond a hook, so who actually gets a letter...

what would i gain from a program like this??? Is it worth it, like it costs $900, which I could be using to go to a debate camp...

Anyone went to a program like this

i went, and to be honest i had a solid time. it was in DC, i went down a couple days early to party and had a good time at the program itself (i did one on the CIA/National Intelligence beceause im interested in that stuff and love shows like 24 etc... so if ur interested in somthing go for it (btw, it may not be a hook, but when i met with a cornell dean, he said that nslc does look good on an application)

^But like who actual gets an invitation

i got an invitation, they come in the mail ... they arent based on some spectacular credentials or nething; tons of really dumb people got them and smart people didnt ; i think its based on if u check somthing on the PSAT wher u allow ur score to be seen my talent search organizations.

i went to nylc- pretty much anyone can go if theyre will to pay, but the program was pretty fun. not a hook, but it doesn't hurt.

NLSC is worth the enrichment and enjoyment, if that's what you want to get out of the program.

thanks for asking for me
I am having the same concern at this time too

BTW: are NSLC and NLSC the same thing?

^Yea, it is...I had a typo, and it won't let me edit the title, its NSLC
