Hey there CC,

So I just got my Drexel acceptance letter today with a $20,000 AJ Drexel Scholarship. It was an incredibly pleasant surprise, since I was only applying to Drexel expecting to get a money from their NMF scholarship, where National Merit Finalists get automatic full tuition.

Does anyone know if I can combine these 2 scholarships? The full tuition plus $20k would actually give me a surplus of scholarship money so I'm really not sure if it's allowed. Perhaps they will adjust or even take away their AJ Drexel scholarship once they find out about the NMF?

Note: NMF notifications aren't out yet, so Drexel doesn't know that I will be a finalist.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You definitely won’t be awarded a surplus amount. Is the AJ Drexel scholarship defined as a tuition only scholarship? If so, then if the NM is also defined as for full tuition, you will likely only get the higher of the 2 awards. The best place to get a definitive answer is from the financial aid office at the school.

“Students with full tuition provided by Drexel funds, including Drexel tuition remission, full-time athletic grants, and ROTC grants, are not eligible for additional Drexel scholarships and grants.”

That makes sense. The AJ Drexel scholarship is listed as a partial-tuition scholarship, so I guess I’m just getting the NMF. Thanks

No, you definitely cannot stack the scholarships. My S was admitted to Drexel in 2011 with a scholarship before the NMF notifications came out, and they augmented it to full tuition when that happened, but they will not allow you to go over full tuition.
