If a kid takes the PSAT in junior, makes NMSF as a senior, does the necessary things to make Finalist and then takes a gap year, is there a problem?

hmmm…

I’d call NMCorp and ask… 847-866-5100

I thought a NMF has to enroll in college in the fall after graduation (I think that question is asked), but I could be wrong. It might be problem for those who want a college NMF scholarship. I think someone asked this question last year.

What is your concern?

Not making NMF because of this?

not getting the one time $2500?

not getting a college NMF scholarship?

Does your child have to take a gap year?

From what I remember, I think you had to specify your “First Choice School” the spring of your senior year. This being a requirement for most NM scholarships, my guess is that the only way to take a gap year would be to act as if you would enroll in the fall, and then take a deferment.

(This may or may not work)

This was a thread in CC earlier this year and this was a response from an active poster.
