And therein lies the rub. He’s not objecting to going to the dinner because he “has” to go. He doesn’t want to wear a tie. Believe me, I have a mid 50s member of the family who refuses to attend events if a tie is required. Southern men from the Gulf Coast, you gotta love 'em. Give them a fishing pole and bare feet, and they’re happy.

There is a youtube video of how to tie a tie. My kids have resorted to using it when they forget.

Pre-tie the tie at home, carefully slip it off and have him take it with him, voila… a tied tie when he needs it :)

If the boys had to wear bras and high heels…they’d never go anywhere.

A tie? phalezzeeeeee.

^^^And this is why the women have the babies.

Glad this thread is taking a lighter note.

Hope you all have a good time.

S was thinking of signing up for Your First Year, Your First Challenge, which is part of the WOW week activities. The date is Sunday Aug. 19th from 8:30 - 5:30. If the NMF dinner starts at 5:30, will he have enough time for both activities?
I’m assuming he won’t, if he comes back at 5:30, he will need to shower, change and get to the NMf dinner.
Any suggestions?

I don’t think the Ropes challenge event lasts all day - I think you are given a time to attend/climb? My son’s ticket said 8.30 start time, but I just assumed he was one of the early ones to climb. I’m not sure where they bus them to to attend this. Email the guy whose name is in the event info?

I have yet to receive an invitation to the dinner. Who should I contact?

when did they sign up for WOW events? Not sure DS received this…

someone posted a link to the WOW events - it is self-serve - don’t expect any emails about it. All of the WOW events are listed on the WOW schedule, here: [Week of Welcome](<a href=“Weeks of Welcome - University Programs”>http://wow.ua.edu/) . There is link on that page for tickets (only 7 or 8 events, tho - everything else on the schedule is just show-up, no reservations required).

Several of the WOW ticketed events are ‘sold out’ already.

I think that this is one of those things I need to just let him figure out. Thanks for the link though.

Aj contact susan haynes at the honors college by phone or email and let her know you didnt get your invitation. If she doesnt handle it I am sure she knows who to contact.

Thank you!
