I’ve been browsing through older posts on this forum about the OSU National Merit Finalist scholarship. However, there isn’t really anything definitive. Some people say it’s implied with Distinguished, and different amounts have been listed on a year to year basis. I might end up just calling their admissions, but it probably will be swamped. In any case, does anyone know what the NMF situation this time around?

What are other good alternatives, if it’s not that good this year?

I’m sure the info is online so check out scholarships at osu.edu. I don’t think the NM award is very good anymore but they have increased the other merit scholarships a lot in the past few years.

Check the scholarship page of osu.edu. It is usually around the admissions or financial aid page. Based on different factors such as gpa or scores the NMF may convert to a distinguished scholarship which would raise the amount awarded. Since you are OOS I would also look to see if you qualify for the National Buckeye Award. An NMF and a Buckeye award may be combined which would make for a nice merit scholarship.

I do know that this year they raised the minimum score you had to get for a National Buckeye scholarship from past years so so of the information here in this forum may no longer be relevant.

I am not sure if you have already applied but if you have not you need to be sure to apply by Dec.1 eventhough the application deadline is later. Merit scholarship applicants have to have there applications in earlier and this earlier deadline sometimes trips up students.
