Yes, they are stackable.

University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (from a private letter):
NMF are guaranteed to receive U of M Gold Scholar Award for National Merit Finalists, worth $40,000 over 4 years, if they declare U of M as their first choicecollege by NMSC deadline.
In addition, NMF may be eligible to receive National Merit U of M Scholarship worth $4000-8000 over four years.

^^^

^^^ Thatâs a good deal for many kids⊠

For an OOS kid, that almost covers all of instate tuition (which is about $12k ) or almost covers half of COA (about $21k)

For an OOS kid, it covers about 2/5th of the COA ( OOS tuition is about $16,500âŠCOA is about $25k. )

^^Great info about UMinn-TC! I checked this thread and itâs been mentioned twice before, but for some reason hasnât made it on the official list.

In addition, there is the possibility of either Gold or Maroon National Scholarships, for almost all OOSers, which covers the full or 50% of the difference between IS and OOS tuition, respectively.

I called the University of Arizonaâs financial aid office. They confirmed that out-of-state National Merit Finalists would get a full ride. Last year when I called they said they wouldnât. Policy change?

UMNâs merit scholarships are stackable, so an NMF may well receive not only the $10k (which is guaranteed) but also a Gold National - which removes the OOS tuition differential (~$4k) - the Bentson Family - $5k - undergrad research - $1.7k, or something else.

It can amount to almost a full ride.

Wayne State Detroit (Decent Medical School) NMF-Full tuition, Room & Board, Study abroad, Lap top and stipend
Texas Tech-NMF Five years tuiton (includes grad school) room, board, stipend guaranteed

re - Willamette - I think they have upped their minimum to at least 17K this year. That is what my daughter has been offered.

Is University of Tulsa really a full-ride guaranteed for NMF? The website indicates they select for this and all may not receive the full scholarship. Anybody know?

^University of Tulsa used to be a guaranteed full-ride, but they changed a few years ago to a competitive full-ride. No longer guaranteed. At least thatâs what they told my son last summer, and (as you pointed out) thatâs what all their literature now says.

Recipients are selected from a pool of NMF applicants.

As of the Class of 2014, at least, Tulsa was selective and gave out ~80 full rides.

univ. of tulsa - oldest d (nmf) had applied and was accepted. after acceptance she was awarded one of the full rides. however, she did attend elsewhere.

If anyone still needs this information, I emailed University of Florida and Northeastern University about NMF scholarships.

For UF:
If you advance to finalist and name UF as your first choice school, you will receive a waiver for the non-resident portion of your tuition (this year valued at over $20,000) as well as $4,000 in scholarship for all four years at UF. You can also apply for an additional $1000 for research purposes or for professional development (such as conferences).

UFâs tuition is $5020 a year so NMF makes it only about $1020 a year for OOS. Plus cost of attendance at UF isnât that high. Also, they let me apply after the Nov. 1st deadline and marked my app as a âspecial applicationâ

For NEU:
National Merit Finalist Scholarships are an 8-semester guarantee, provided if you maintains the required 3.0 GPS. These 8 semesters can be over 3, 4 or 5 years â depending on how you integrates different aspects of your Northeastern education such as classes, co-op, and other experiential and global opportunities.

People were saying earlier that NEUâs NMF scholarships were competitive, but it doesnât look like they are. Yay :)

Be careful with scholarship offers. Texas Tech offers five years full ride, but then I found out the health science school is a separate entity and the scholarship doesnât apply.

What is the Health Science school? Is it where the med school is? or what?

Were you wondering if you could use the 5th year for med school?

Texas Tech offers a five year scholarship full ride for NMF. The fifth year can be used for grad school. However, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is the undergrad and grad component for various allied health professions i.e., speech pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, athlete training, etc. Students apply to these programs after freshman year and complete a BS first before grad school. However, after a phone call I found out that NM scholarships canât be used for Health Sciences programs at this time. What a surprise! Auburn and Alabama donât operate this way.

The Texas Tech information posted above doesnât seem to add up.

In-state tuition, fees, room, and board total $16,526 according to this page:

[Texas Tech University :: Texas Tech Facts](http://www.ttu.edu/facts/)

But the National Merit Finalist scholarship is worth only $12,700 per year according to this page:

[Texas Tech Admissions :: First Time Freshman > Scholarships](http://www.admissions.ttu.edu/freshman/scholarships/default.asp)

If this information is outdated, please post links to the correct information.

The information about the automatic five year full ride for NMF was provided on the phone by the Texas Tech Scholarship office in 12/2010. They are very nice!

^^

When you say âfull rideâ âŠdo you mean tuition? or tuition, room, board, books, etc?

Is it for instate and OOS as well?

There is a separate scholarship for on-campus housing. Itâs in addition to the other scholarship. It does end up being a full ride.
