Not anywhere close to the cut here which will allow us to focus on other things.
Looking at math score between last year and this year, the math curve looks significantly harder. Have not had time to look at EBRW to see how that worked.

D got a 1480 or 221 in Ohio as well, @TheyCmeRolling . She’s probably one of the highest scores in her class of 500ish in SW part of state, if that helps with the speculation. School typically has 2-4 NMFs.
Compass Prep put out predictions for cutoff ranges in each state for class of 2018.

Basically took last year’s cutoff and made it the middle of this year’s cutoff range. Nothing new to see here for the informed.
220 in AR, of course need final cutoff but feel like S18 did his job.
Already took SAT and scored 1480 which would be good enough, I think, except he took with writing and that score was mediocre to poor - 4/4/5. Any insight on whether he should take again without writing just for purposes of National Merit Scholarship or just submit this one?
Just happy to see the scores confirmed on College Board. As someone said before, you worry that there was an upload mistake. It looks like Florida is estimated to go at the most to 219…so DD’s 221 should hold.
^Agree, I worried that the Naviance score was a mistake so it was a relief to see the 222 SI and confirmed NMS competition eligibility on the CB website. We are in Texas so S should be safe for NMS…he’s so excited! He loved UT Dallas and is thrilled to be on track to get their NMF scholarship package, plus other schools on his list also have great merit scholarships that become more likely with NMF status. It’s definitely motivated him to keep up the good work on grades to make NMF a reality.
Will a 218 in Washington State make it? I messed up on math :’(
@traveler98, mom of Texas D21, we also are looking at UTDallas. D likes the small non rah rah campus. So I will be following your son’s progress!
Any idea what the commended cutoff will be? Last year it was 209, but previous years it was always between 200 and 203.
@MomofJDJJ you can not compare scores prior to last year to this year’s test because they changed the scale last year.
I got a 1510 and an index of 226. Does anyone have an idea of what the cutoff for NY is?
You have nothing to worry about @NYhomeschooler, with a 226 you will definitely be safe. The highest cutoff in the country last year was 222.
I got an index of 216. The cutoff of GA last year was 218, does anyone know when this year’s cutoff gets announced? Praying that it will magically drop two points.
@janeh1993 September!
Thanks @traveler98 !
@MomofJDJJ I think most would expect the commended cut-off for class of 2018 to be closer to the 209 for class of 2017, rather than any earlier year. Test and scale changed for class of 2017 and beyond, so as 3scoutmom said don’t look at earlier years for comparison.
It could climb a point or two. Compass Prep is projecting a range for commended of 207 to 2011. See link I posted earlier.
Probably asked and answered. My apologies, if so.
Is it in Feb when the indexes are announced for each state?
@cardinal2020mom September 2017
thanks, @LOUKYDAD.
Okay, thanks @LOUKYDAD and @3scoutsmom.
