I’m so sorry, @Debs72. Thank you for letting us know even though it wasn’t good news for your D.
who is art, and where is his site?
Hold the presses…
D18 did a little sleuthing this morning & was told by GC that the NV cutoff is 216. Her school is not releasing info until sometime next week, so nothing official is out.
We might want to wait until we get a third input until we make a final call on the NV cutoff as so far one source reported 217 (from principal) and now another reports 216 (from a GC).
Not sure who got it right, just reporting to keep everyone in the loop.
@momtimes3 Art runs Compass Education Group. We’re not allowed to post links to his site, but you can do a search for Compass Prep and Art Sawyer and you’ll find it. Once you’re there, click on the tab for the blog.
I have been suspicious of that NV cutoff since I read it on Art’s page. The reference seemed anecdotal and not necessarily as though the principal was talking about an actual cutoff. I was hesitant when I saw it listed as fact and didn’t think it should be taken as gospel. I’m inclined to think your D’s GC was more specific in this story than the poster on Art’s page, @LMHS73 . Perhaps a miscommunication over there. Good luck to all!
@deebmc I am a CT native but no longer live there. Good luck. My wife was a NMS back when we grew up in CT but that was in the days before the country got overrun with tiger parents.
Someone posted on Art’s blog that 219 made it KY, and Art added to his list of updates!!! (DS has SI 219)
Debs72, I am so sorry to hear that!
Art must be at breakfast or in a meeting. No updates for over an hour.
Is everyone telling him when they get news? I don’t want to bog down his site with double notifications if you’re all heading over there after you post here.
@precisionparadox My DS is not going to submit applications until NMSC releases its list of NMSF (which I’m seeing here will be Sept 13). That’s just as well, because he hasn’t started any! But just to be safe, I would personally wait to hit “submit” until the release date. I would also not list on the Common App until the release date, but that’s just my opinion. I am a worry-wart.
To those parents & posters who are sharing information even though the cut-off was missed - it is much appreciated and definitely helps others.
@LOUKYDAD That’s good news for your S, right? I don’t remember his SI. Sounds like congrats are in order!
Still nothing from Oklahoma. @HeliMom74 how are you doing? I’m hoping you haven’t OD’ed on sunflower seeds. ;))
Hey, BIG NEWS for those of you waiting on Pennsylvania - via a principal contact who is not our principal - 219 is the cutoff in Pennsylvania!
Congrats to those who made it! I am sorry that my hunch (and Art’s prediction came true). My DD missed by 1 pt.
@DiotimaDM , will you please update Art for me? This is a very reliable source.
No, that is not known. CO was 218 last year. This year, we “know” it is between 219 and 221. It may have gone up one point.
I put “know” in quotes because there is a likelihood some of our data is bad at this stage, and we don’t know which that data it is. Add to the fact, there isn’t much of it … well … you get the picture.
I think some opinions are forming a little prematurely on what the “big picture” will look like. It’s still early, and news is coming in slower than we would all like.
For those of you keeping track, PA cutoff was 218 last year and so went up 1 point.
@ShrimpBurrito yes, thank you! DS has a 219, so that is what we have been hoping to hear! Now just hoping the poster on Art’s blog was a credible source.
Congrats @LOUKYDAD , fabulous news!
@winky1 thank you so much for your update!!! I’m so sorry your daughter didn’t make it hopefully she will get a good offer regardless.
Our GC just received the information and 215 does not make it in Iowa.
@Winky1 Oh, no! So sorry you didn’t make it. I’ve left a comment at Art’s about the PA cutoff.
