NMSC Essay: What's it mean by "print"?

I recently received the "you're a semi-finalist" packet from the NMS Corporation, and I've begun to peck out the required essay in a Word document on my computer. The instructions on the application say to, "Use your own words and limit your response to the space below. Print your essay and affix securely or write legibly in ink on this form. Material exceeding this space cannot be used."
I'm wondering -- What spacing, style (TNR, I assume), and, most importantly, font size should I use if I want to utilize the print-essay-and-affix-securely method? I think the printing on the application itself is size 8 or smaller, but I'm not sure I want to risk making mine that tiny since, as everyone knows, the standard essay font is 12-point Times New Roman. Any ideas?

Also, would it be more "impressive" if I just wrote out my essay by hand (I have fairly nice handwriting) instead of printing it, or should it matter?

Thanks!
