My D18 is a likely NMSF with US/Canadian dual citizenship. Her current top three college choices are in Canada. Is there any scenario under which she would receive scholarship money because of the NMSF/NMF designation if she attended school outside the US? From what I’ve read it looks like the answer is No, but I may be missing something.
Check the NMSC website, but it’s my understanding that NM scholarships can be used only at US universities.
Most of the NMF scholarships are from the colleges…and they’re US colleges.
Are you asking about the ONE TIME, small 2500 award from NMCorp??? It’s obviously not much, and probably is only for a US college.
Yes, and the corporate-sponsored scholarships. (Although I doubt we would be eligible for those, as neither my husband nor I work for one of the sponsoring companies.) I know those aren’t worth as much as the college-sponsored scholarships. I just don’t want to leave potential money on the table should my D go to school in Canada.
I don’t know about all corporate-sponsored NM scholarships, but until recently H worked for a company that has one for NMF children of employees. It stipulates that the funds must be used at a US university.
