NMSF process while living overseas?

Hi. We are U.S. citizens living in South America. We have lived here for the past 5 years, but recently spent 6 months in the U.S.

My oldest daughter took the PSAT as a junior while attending a public school in Texas this past fall. We received her results (229) just before returning to South American in January.

The GC at the Texas school said that her international school here would be responsible for the NMSF application process should she qualify. I did call NM and they asked me to send a letter with our change of address and school, which I sent.

I also met with the GC at her international school here. He indicated that my daughter would hear directly from NM if she makes NMSF.

So, I was wondering how she would be contacted overseas. Would she receive something in the mail here in South America? I just want to be sure she is not overlooked in the process.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who has experience in either changing schools or living overseas during the selection process.

Thanks!!

*

I would keep in touch with NMCorp by phone to make sure that the process is in place for you child.

Typically, NMCorp does NOT notify the student that she has made NMSF…her school gets the packet and notifies the student. However, the process may be different in the case of an overseas student.

So, after you make sure that NMCorp has her correct school listed, be sure to contact them again - maybe late spring or early summer to make sure that your D’s or her school will get the NMCorp packet.

Congrats to your D…she will make NMSF!
