NMSF referral to colleges & "low" commended

Off-topic:

If we're commended, do we get letters sent to us in the mail?

hey i got the exact same issue 200 psat, 34 act
glad i found this forum, but still really don't have any answers

SCG: post what you think you will do. thanks

woowski, way to slip in under the wire! Are you going to take the SAT? (Long way to go to match the ACT score, and congrats on that!)

We're leaning toward not sending the letters. S will be applying mostly to UC schools (who don't care about the letters) along w/ Stanford (long shot) and USC. Don't think either of those will get excited about our early interest. So I think it looks better just to list "commended" on the aps (then they know it's somewhere between 200 and about 217 for CA) and submit the ACT. But really, don't think it's a big deal either way.

It really doesn't matter what schools you send the scores to at this point. Once you have become a finalist you will have until May of your senior year to designate the school you are going to attend in the event that they provide NMF scholarships.

alright cool, i was leaning the same way
