I just took the PSAT this past Wednesday and because of my immigration status, I am wondering if whether or not I bubble the right bubble when it asked if I was a United States citizen. You see, roughly nine years ago my father, mother, and I went to the United States because my parents were international graduate students. In 2003, they finished their studies but instead of deciding to go back to my home country, they decided to get worker visas to work here in the United States because I had already grown up here and I had a sibling who was just born. In 2006, both of my father applied for permanent residency for the United States because he received sponsorship from his company. Until he receives permanent residency, I cannot apply for it because I am only a dependent. So, now I am wondering if on the PSAT I should have filled in the bubble that said I was simply not a US citizen or if I should have filled in the bubble that said I was a lawful permanent resident or have applied for permanent residency.
