So I got accepted to Northern Michigan's Art and Design Program for Illustration. I know that they have some nice facilities for the Program, but I wanted to see if anyone knew more about the school or had any experience with the Art & Design. Also if someone could tell me more about the city of Marquette. I'm born in raised in Los Angeles, but I like trying new areas. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Congrats! We visited that school a couple of years ago and we saw their brand new Art Building. Looked really nice. Did you visit in person?

There is a poster that used to be on here who told me about the school, her daughter went their. Her user name is TheresaCPA. Not sure if she is still on here, but hopefully she’ll answer.

I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about your program. The son of a friend of mine is at school there, and really loves it. You have to like snow and winter sports, though–the climate in Michigan’s UP is very cold and snowy. Good luck, whatever you decide!

@redbug- I won’t be able to visit, so I’m kind of taking a leap of faith. Thanks for the tip about TheresaCPA. I went and looked at some of her old posts and they were very informative about the school.

Also, what I REALLY liked was an on-site store where students could sell their artwork. I bought 2 great pins from there that a jewelry artist had for sale.

Oh thats good. I figured NMU might be a good fit for me since it has a good program and I’ve always wanted to have a strong illustration program with a traditional college experience. I’m waiting to hear back from VCU and a couple other schools before I make an official decision though
